I believe they will have a doctor review the persons case etc. I don't know a lot about it, but I understand they tell people that they will not just perform more than three automatically to stop anyone using it as a form of birth control (not that I'm convinced many people would put themselves through that so easily anyway).

It's funny, in the UK doctors and teachers are two of the professions held in the highest regard. In the US they never seem to receive the same kind of appreciation.

Well, that's the thing. It's a health issue, right? Why would you investigate it at all?

Because in the UK we don't really have issues with the NHS trying to push people towards more health conscious choices. if someone is coming in for repeated abortions and discussions with a doctor show they just aren't bothering to use contraception, then the doctor will advice them about contraception and potentially refuse to carry out further procedures (I believe). Abortions are potentially damaging to the woman, and its not something anyone should be doing lightly.

As I say, this is just my understanding of how it works over here, I'm no medical professional.

Hey I'm not being partisan on that one. I think it's basically down to the profit orientated medical system you guys have. We don't see doctors as people we pay money to in return for services, although obviously we still do in a more indirect way. It's seen more as a giving profession.
