Hmm, he was in a room full of rich donors saying what they wanted to hear under the impression that the room had been vetted for electronic recording equipment. I don't see that as ineptness on his part. Hopefully others will learn not to have complete trust in situations like this.

I do bet that if we had access to all of Obama's comments said off the record that we could find some dozzies also. (but I will give Obama credit for being a bit smarter about things like this.)

Also, better to focus on real problems than imagined ones.

I just find it hilarious that a significant fraction of these 47% will be voting for Romney... NYT did an analysis and noted that a significant number of these people are the elderly, whose incomes (SSI and such) are tax exempt...

Any one of the economists here want to comment on why this doesn't work? Pricing wages beyond the marginal value of the occupation ensures that these duties will be transferred to other, more highly valued employees.

I offered one idea on how to make low paying jobs more attractive than welfare. What have you thought of?

You did - except it doesn't work. The result would be even fewer low paying jobs.

I already posted my idea - cut welfare benefits altogether. Let charities pick up the slack. No minimum wage. The result would be that most everyone that could work would work, and substantial savings for the state. Eliminate federal income tax. Initiate a federal sales tax.

Are you aware that the US is touching 120 percent debt to GDP ratio? Cutbacks are coming, Mr. Fun.

People donating their own money to charities for the poor is far more efficient than redistribution through government spending. The poor would be better off.

Rather than paying bureaucrats, you'd be getting the money where it really needs to go - helping poor people.

When the minimum wage increases - are you aware who benefits the most? Anyone with a contract that pays them a multiple of the minimum wage. Not the people who actually make minimum wage. The people who make minimum wage get their hours cut and get fired.

Is it better for someone to work full time on 5 an hour or 20 hours a week on 8? Which do you think they would prefer to work?

I believe that Obamacare is intended to weaken certain charities, not strengthen them. Why didn't Obama grant waivers to all non-profit charities?
