Keep in mind Ken, this is the nation that elected GWB... Twice.

One question about the hidden video thing btw, is it normal for people to eat dinner while someone is delivering a speech in America? That seems really odd.

John McCain 52 percent to 46 percent — closely mirrored the election’s outcome." In reference to the 2008 presidential election, a Talking Points Memo article said, "Rasmussen's final polls had Obama ahead 52%-46%, which was nearly identical to Obama's final margin of 53%-46%, and made him one of the most accurate pollsters out there." A Fordham University analysis ranked 23 survey research organizations on the accuracy of their final, national pre-election polls. Rasmussen Reports and Pew Research Center tied as the most accurate.

That depends on the quality of the food vs the quality of the speaker.

It seems to be common for fundraisers that wealthy donors pay thousands of dollars a plate to attend, but that's about it.

                You're calling Romney a liar?

This is like Akin lite. He keeps up the awful, and should be losing badly, but people don't care becasue his opponent's record is worse than any supposition.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Hilarious that you can only talk about Romney in the context of Obama.

I'm starting to think Romney is doing this stuff on purpose to see who is still crazy enough to believe in him.

About a quarter of the 47% who don't pay the income tax are in fact retired elderly people. BTW slightly less than half of the people who don't pay income tax do pay payroll taxes and various other taxes (excesize taxes, etc...) at the Federal level and if you count state and local government taxes then 77% of all the taxes people actually pay to the government (at all levels) are actually taxes other than the Federal income tax. So claiming people don't pay taxes is complete bull**** as they're ignoring a full 77% of the taxes real people actually pay.

Conservatives though like to only talk about the income tax because it is one of the only progressive taxes left on the books so they can whine that poor little rich people need yet another tax cut.

                      • A question

I don't understand how the price of gas is a political issue people take into consideration when voting. It is the price of a commodity, like the price of soy, copper or wheat.

Do they want the State to subsidize gas? I must be missing something because many republicans talk about this and I dont think they want more subsidies.

Taxing people for being hard working and productive isn't helping things. And yes - poor people pay income taxes too, Dinner. Saw an excellent study out there - that someone on welfare receives about 30k in benefits from the federal government tax free. That's much more than many people will see in a year - even if they work and pay taxes. This is why entitlement reform is completely necessary - that and the fact that the US is broke.

They want to drill for more oil and they are lying to us, saying that that will lower our gas bill.

Economics suggests that increasing the supply of an inelastic commodity will decrease prices.

It's not a black and white 'those people get welfare while all those other people stand on their own feet'. The majority of people get some form of government help, the only question is usually how much and what form it takes. The nonsense you just referred to is part of a divisive republican campaign to try and get people to turn on each other and look down their noses at the poorest sections of society, despite the implicit hypocracy of it. It's also about as far away from christianity as you can get, so you should be deeply ashamed of spouting such garbage.
