Yes, because the 2008 was about gun control.

Watching you apologists on this one is hilarious. Especially for the guy you are defending.

But I guess bad managers need to stick together.

For Romney this is especially destructive because his is already falling behind. He can barely afford minor gaffes at this point. Major ones, like this, will hurt him a lot. Once again, he finds himself on the defensive.

The odds are stacked against him:

      1. His campaign is horribly managed, which reflects poorly on him.
      2. He's got enough gaffes to fill a book, which will certainly come out next year.
      3. He's the candidate no one really wanted.
      4. He makes Al Gore look human and George Bush look in touch with the average American.
      5. He can't sing.

It would be stupid to consider the income of a household to not also be the income of the stay-at-home-mom. It has nothing to do with how you grow up. It is actually how you pay taxes. She would be categorized as a dependant.

What about pensioners? Presumably they do not pay income tax so would be counted towards his 47% figure? I would assume that certain subsections of the pensioner group are quite Republican?

Why wouldn't they pay income tax? Even SS is taxed. Only Roth IRAs are not at this point, AFAIK -- and that's only because they are taxed at the time it is deposited.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                IT DIDN'T WORK.

It will have no impact here, now, for exactly the same reasons it didn't in 2008.
When the comment is directly related to one of the overriding issues of the campaign, then yes it will, as DaShi noted. Nobody cared about Obama's comments in 2008 because it was irrelevant to the election. THIS strikes at the core of everything voters dislike and distrust about Mitt Romney. At the very least, it reinforces the notion that Romney is two-faced and will pander to whatever audience he faces with whatever they want to hear. Also, Obama wasn't lagging in the polls at the time in 2008 and there wasn't an emerging narrative of his campaign being incompetent/in disarray and of him being prone to horrendous gaffes. For Romney, however, the media has already been feasting on his campaign woes this week and last, so this is just more fuel for that fire.

My guess is that leaks from these tapes are going to keep trickling out and there's probably worse to come.

This of course is why even conservative figures are tripping over themselves to say how incredibly bad this is for Romney.

You don't genuinely still expect him to win do you btw, after the last few weeks?

It's true. Romney does not care about the poor. NO ONE SHOULD. They should be sterilized and shot. They are a net drain, none of them pay income tax and all they want is more entitlements (which in the projects they call BLOW). I have been a Republican operative and politician for several years now and I've got to say, I have thought of an idea for an invention that should make me the million dollars: A welfare doll, it could retail for $19.95, that is very easy to wind up but never works. Do you all get it? You wind it up, like get it angry, but it doesn't work after that, just like a poor doesn't work. Anyway, that's my idea, and it's now copyrighted because I have written it down, so don't you feel stupid.

I had the impression that Romney did not know someone was video recording.

There are a lot of poor people who work minimum wage jobs.

The Secret Service has the responsibility at private events like this to screen for phones and recording devices at the checkpoint. Judging by the video quality, one of my federal investigator friends says it's possible the cameraman is blind, and passed off his Flip cam as a "bop-it" like device that the blind use to communicate. Odds are, the Secret Service either has a mole, or is already at this blind bastard's house right now.

That's not the same thing as "clinging" to it. Or expressing resentment toward foreigners (which Romney has tried to capitalize on with his nonsense about calling China a "currency manipulator" ).

There are tax credits available for elderly people, I think, if their income is low enough.
