Why would I threaten somebody who posted a true statement about one of my friends? My friends are not that weak, and I'm not that unhinged. I might say something like "why are you making fun of my friend's big-ass jaw" or "why are you making fun of the funny way that my friend walks" or whatever, but I'm sorry, only a psychopath like you jumps to threats and acts righteous for it.

If one were to compare the bullying levels of the Catholic school with the secular school, would we come to the conclusion that there is less bullying overall or more bullying? I haven't seen any of the proponents of the plan show that this is actually the case.

So basically, bullying because you are short, or handicapped - ok. Bullying someone because they are gay is not. Ergo, some animals are more equal than other animals, and recieve special treatment.

Nope, but I assume the catholic church doesn´t label short or handicapped people as immoral sinners. (despite the fact that, according to the old testament at least, people who are shortsighted or are missing onr or both testicles are forbidden to approach the altar of the lord).
Therefore there is no need to tell the catholic church, not to speak bad of short or handicapped people

Couple things here. You're assuming that suicide rates are lower in the secular schools. If I were to show you the opposite, would you concede that the separate schools are doing a better job?

Well, I have no statistics regarding the percentage of suicides on secular and catholic schools (and the percentage of homosexual students among students who go to secular and those who go to catholic schools), so I don´t know. I am only assuming that the anti bullying law is correct in demanding, that certain subgroups shouldn´t be denigrated at public schools, as this might lead to an atmosphere which promotes bullying.

I disagree that teaching kids that some activities are wrong will lead to suicide. Telling them that they have no hope - does. If a child isn't happy, do you think it's more helpful to teach them that they can be overcome, or to teach them that they cannot ever hope to change?

If you teach him/her (in public schools)that s/he is a sinner or immoral because of his/her feeling for members of the same gender, then maybe you are the reason for his/her unhappiness. The situation in which s/he might commit suicide might then come automatically, if s/he (because s/he is told that s/he is a bad person if s/he lives out his/her feelings [and maybe supported from the bullying by classmates]) desperately tries to change, but isn´t able to do so, as his/her feelings for a person of the same gender are too strong.

And neither does the Church. It is possible to have homosexual inclinations and choose not to act on them, and be a member of the Church in good standing. The church draws a distinction between the sinful actions that people commit, from who they are as persons. The Church argues that everyone, with the help of God can overcome sin.

If the Catholic schools are shown to have a lower bullying rate and fewer suicides in general, then it would stand to reason that the anti bullying law should deal with the problem areas. That also assumes that the anti-bullying law, is in fact an anti-bullying law, and not simply something else altogether.

It seems to me that if such evidence existed to support the bill, that said evidence would have already been presented.

That's not been my experience. Unhappiness never has a single cause, and unhappiness significant enough to lead to suicide generally has other things going on at well. There tends to be an element of hopelessness, "things are never going to get better". There are a fair number of children at the secular schools, who are bullied, and are told that their issues are irrelevant (see above), and they end up killing themselves. What would this bill here do to address this problem for these children? It seems to me that the bill equates bullying = homosexuality, and that's just not true. If you're going to address bullying, you are going to have to deal with the root of the problem.

Going after the Catholic church and the separate schools, is going to take away options from parents, who want to see their children get an education away from bullies. As it is, it's not that difficult to transfer a child out of one of a secular school, and into a Catholic school. Taking away this option is going to lead to a dramatic increase in both the private school sector and the homeschooling sector in Ontario, especially from the parents that did not want their children in a secular school.

Children who are being bullied by the Catholic schools, can be transferred out of them, and into a school, that is closer to the desires of the parents. For the children that are having this problem - why haven't their parents exercised this option?

Well, I teach this stuff, and it's not the main focus. I have to prepare the kids for their history classes, and I devote one class a year to marriage. That's it. I would be surprised if the Catholic schools in Ontario were different.

So if you believe that one class a year is enough to constitute 'bullying' than I really don't know what to say.

Pointing at gay students in the class and mention they're going to hell by being sinners will result in a tremendous about of bullying inside and outside of class.
