    It is only fair then to deport anyone who thinks we should have prayer in public schools, because that is obviously against the Constitution and thusly anti-American.

      Actually, the constitution says nothing about barring prayer from schools.

        Which sorta was my point, natch. But then you couldn't call me a dumbass while making people believe that you were actually agreeing with me at the same time...

        I'm calling you an ignorant moron because you were addressing a statement about life in 18th-19th century North America with information about life in the UK.

        I'm also calling you an ignorant moron because you supposedly teach history yet you display a spectacular selective ignorance of the discipline. For instance the Quebec Act is part of our Constitution, so you might have read up on it.

          Maybe you should get out of here before you fall under sharia domination then.

There's nothing that would require an actual election to get sharia instituted in the US, it could take as little as an EO, backed up by the courts.
            AGAIN that had nothing to do with what I posted. I was talking about the legislative branch of government proposing laws. Gee what a concept.

              Actually, the argument I did make is that using Catholics as an example of religious tolerance is inaccurate because of the laws in the UK at the time. An entirely correct statement, notwithstanding the Quebec Act.

              Uh, where did I reference the BNA Act anywhere in my post? Look, you're making the exact same argument I made, that things are different in North America, because of the different regulations vis a vis religious freedoms.

              You just would rather call me a moron than give credit where credit is due.

                As a Russian friend once said. It is not so bad for us, because there is America. But Americans have nowhere else to go.

                  America is the last place without sharia law now?

                        When in fact, the English decided to tolerate Catholics in Quebec when they conquered Quebec. It's not clear to me why you were disputing NYE's assertion that the English didn't enforce their church on those they conquered if you were aware of the Quebec Act.

                          The Catholics were there first in England. So yes, they did impose their religion on areas they conquered.

                            I'm confused. Are you saying the English conquered themselves?

                              The Establishment Clause of course does. The same thing that bans sharia law.

                                The most important parts of Canada's written Constitution include the following:

                                the Quebec Act of 1774, which guaranteed the use of the French language and civil law in Quebec;

                                the Constitutional Act of 1791, which created elected assemblies in Quebec and Ontario;

                                the British North America Act of 1867, which created the basis of the federal system and laid down the division of powers between federal and provincial governments. This Act was renamed the Constitution Act, 1867 in 1982;
