With so much of the media, and some Poly posters, ready to blame this on Islam or Islamic terrorists, I wonder how much they will now focus on the other side of the coin...the anti-Islamic terrorists.

Seems, I and the New York times alike were wrong here. It happens. Everyone thought there was more then one, but apparently this one man was all there was.

But, we were right on 9-11, and right on Fort Hood, and right at Beslan and right at Bali, right at London. So there's that.

We should probably all hold back our judgements until we know a bit more about why this guy did this, but personally I suspect that the fact he is bat**** crazy is the real reason. Blaming this on religion or right-wing politics or anti-Islamism is not much different to blaming AQ terror on all muslims.

Everything I'm seeing points out to a classical liberal. Well-educated classical liberal. I'm not sure about his faith, or where he practiced. The only reporting I've seen suggests that he's a member of Norway's national Lutheran church, but they also say he's a mason.

Wish I knew more, that's all I know at present.

85 confirmed dead at the youth camp on Utøya, 17 severely wounded. At least 4 missing (possibly drowned). 7 dead in Oslo and 11 wounded.

It's the worst attack on the country since WW2... It's not the largest single loss of life, because there's the sinking of Scandinavian Star in 1990 (136 dead Norwegians). Besides that, it could be the largest.

To put this event into perspective, Norway had 31 investigated murders in 2009... Homicide rate about to take a leap, and all because of one man, in a couple of hours in the afternoon. It's almost unfathomable.

It's not entirely dissimilar what I can tell. He's probably much more obsessed with Muslim immigrants and "Eurabia" than they are though.

Also unlike the average Teapartyist, ABB appears to think of himself as something of an intellectual and a refined individual. In some posts he refers to a book he is writing about his ideas. On his Facebook page (created just days before the attack) he lists several philosophical works (J.S.Mill, Plato, Hobbes, Machiavelli, etc.) and claims to like classical music and vocal trance (no other genres listed).

I also wanted just to draw a line in the sand, so you can't blame me for the current belligerent excesses of the Nato campaign. You, however, were happy to see Gadaffi wrest control back of his country and all the inevitable deaths there were going to be because of that. Also, the other major difference with Libya is that there hasn't been a full-scale invasion of the country by Western forces. Completely different really. Thanks for playing, do try again...
