This is pretty silly. Everybody knows that priests are almost all gay, so the Church is unable to enforce its own rule.

Onodera is right though that private groups have the right to their own sets of rules. It's a matter of the right to free association. It's important for these rights to be universal, so that unpopular groups enjoy the same rights as popular groups. It just so happens that in the case, it's all sound and fury.

What if that Church owns a hospital, factory, pharmaceutical company, bus company, etc? Should their subsidiaries have the right to discriminate?

Clearly the bus company despised blacks (though it didn't mind taking money off them!) through its racist policies. The British Empire spread modern civilization to barbarian peoples, built lasting infrastructure like sewers and rails, and greatly influenced the creation of the education system in former colonies. In contrast, the Catholic Church is a remnant from an ignorant and barbaric age.

What has the Catholic Church done besides interfering with non-secular matters within nations, retarding scientific progress, and spreading its vile dogmatic crap for centuries? Look at how all the former colonies inundated with Catholic culture turned out. Places like Haiti still believe in burning witches, exorcising demons, and disasters as signs from god.

The Catholic Church's tremendous influence in unsustainable third world population growth by preaching against contraception alone is worthy of utter contempt.
