  • On the Mount Christ (in refering to the leaders of the Jewish religion), said don't mix what is holy with undeserving people. You came up with some ridiculous explaination for that verse that doesn't fit in context. Why would Jesus refer to a fool as a dog? Dogs aren't particularily stupid. They are unclean, and shameless however.
He's talking about religious teachings here. I don't know why you persist in interpreting it to mean you can just dump your wife because you don't like her. Paul is super clear on this point. Don't divorce an unbelieving wife.

    fool in Christ.
1 Cor 4:10. You really need to read the Epistles.

We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honourable, but we without honour.

    • Because man's language has it's limitations. God has to use words that we invent ourselves.
So you don't believe that Christ truly is a king with a kingdom? He uses Basiliea which means precisely that, a kingdom. Just because you don't like that word, doesn't mean that Christ hates it.

??????? Do you have reasons for your beliefs beyond convenience?

False witness. Read the thread. It's clear that I didn't divorce my wife just because I didn't like her.

Just because you love the word doesn't mean that heaven is going to be anything like earth. There will be no human domination. Sorry Ben.

Part of the Biblical basis for it can be seen in the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 4:10, which famously says:
"We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised." (KJV).

              And also:
"For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness." (1 Corinthians 3:19)

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)

"For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe." (1 Corinthians 1:21)
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalms 139.14a

You implicated earlier that it had something to do with her not being a Christian, didn't you? It sounded like it was part of the problem at least. Speaking of that, you never replied to my earlier post with the scriptural proof you wanted.

I didn't say she wasn't a Christian. I said she was evil (a dog/pig). Jon Miller remembers me talking about her on this website. That's why he mentioned child abuse. I didn't think it was necessary to say anything about her besides the fact that she is evil. Do you seriously believe that people should allow evil people around their children?

Thank you for making my point that all who are in Christ are wise.

                    • You said it's nothing as a fool in Christ. I disproved that. Being a fool in Christ does not mean you're dumb, but you might be regarded as such.

I haven't seen her mentioned before now. As such, I did not think she was a child abuser. Furthermore, I spoke in general terms, since you also did so at some points. If she abuses your children, of course hold her away from them. But this was not clear earlier in the discussion.

But if she's just evil let her around my son?

                            No you didn't because

                            Fool in Christ = wise

I said Christ doesn't want you to be a fool. I didn't say Christ doesn't want you to be wise.

You are better than this. No need to twist words just for the sake of it.

                              • From the Geneva study bible:

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your a pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. a. The stiff-necked and stubborn enemies of the gospel are unworthy to have it preached unto them. b. A pearl is known among the Greeks for its oriental brightness: and a pearl was in ancient times greatly valued by the Latins: for a pearl that Cleopatra owned was valued at two hundred and fifty thousand crowns: and the word is now borrowed from that, to signify the most precious heavenly doctrine.
