Scripture about not leaving your wife if she's not a Christian? Easy:

    1st Cor 7.10-17

10And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

11But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

12But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

13And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

15But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

16For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

17But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

Your choice. But it's not a Christian choice, as a Christian you should show compassion, especially for children. Nobody forces you to like her, but with kids, you owe them.

Because Jesus repeatedly tried to keep his followers out of trouble, and he advised them to avoid it too... His sect was different from the militant Jews bent on rebellion.

Are there any mansions without some king in charge? I know what a monarchy is, so I have to ask why Jesus used it as a metaphor for Heaven.

        • You do realise that "king" is a German word, so Jesus would never have used it?

          • messiah means king of the jews, I think thats the greek word anyway. But Jesus claimed or portrayed himself to be of the line of David - the Kings of Israel. So I have to believe earthly kingship was his intended metaphor for Heaven. I'm not saying he's wrong, just wondering whats so great about existence under some king.

            • βασιλεία is what he uses.

Basileia for Kingdom (which is where basilica comes from).

              Basileus for King.

Basically, "Jesus replied, "My Kingdom (βασιλεία) is not of this world (κόσμου), if it were of this world my officers (ὑπηρέται) would be striving (ἠγωνίζοντο) for my release from the Jews (Ἰουδαίοις); they are not, therefore my kingdom is not of this realm.

If your partner is not good for your kids, than you owe your kids to leave them.

                • Leave, not leave him/her out. That should be the exception, not the rule.

                  • If your partner is abusive/etc, it is your responsibility to keep them away from your kids.

If she had redeeming qualities, to not divorce her?

                      • I'm talking about the kids here, keep up. There are good reasons to divorce, not that many as people these days think, but it's reasons. And of course, if your partner is abusive, keep the kids away. But we're not talking excpetions here.

Your clarity is not the issue. You haven't understood what I've been saying. On the Mount Christ (in refering to the leaders of the Jewish religion), said don't mix what is holy with undeserving people. You came up with some ridiculous explaination for that verse that doesn't fit in context. Why would Jesus refer to a fool as a dog? Dogs aren't particularily stupid. They are unclean, and shameless however.

I'm not talking about violence. You can have a conflict without being violent.

Here's a good verse for you.

John 17:22 (Jesus praying to the Father)

"I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one"

Glory and honor are great blessings.

Because man's language has it's limitations. God has to use words that we invent ourselves.
