But a great deal of the Philippines appears to be located firmly in the past. I'm wondering if olde-fashioned stereo systems are still to be had there, so it'd be worthwhile to tote my records over to the Phils. If not, I'll have to get rid of them over here.
Depending on their condition, who it is, etc they could be worth a bit to sell. I actually took the time and trouble to convert mine to wav's then MP3's. I later realized I could download most of my albums from the web with much less work but rare albums are not usually available. I converted a rare jazz album to a CD for a colleague and he swears that after I cleaned up the pops and clicks it was better than the original.

    • It's exceedingly easy to find new turntables in North America. Can you take electronics with you (voltage issues)?

      • There are voltage issues. It makes more sense to buy something over there than to buy it here, ship it, and then hook it into a converter.

        • The voltage is less of a problem than the frequency of the AC current but that is all moot if you have decent turntable with a dc motor.

            • just change the power supply on a desktop or get a different cord for a laptop.

              • I remember travelling around with my laptop and not having any trouble. There's a converter already built into them. I don't know about desktops.

                • Tito is in the hospital. Right now what's wrong is just rumor but the rumor doesn't sound good. I'll PM you Zkrib when we know more.

Yesterday Aeson took the clan for a day of adventure, hired a big van to see the chocolate hills, monkeys, and white sand beaches. It was a blast and I think he'll make a thread and post pics. Got alot of sun so today I'm staying in. The workers are proceeding down the wall, I'll likely get some pics of that maybe tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to the pix.

                      • The waver is wide. It will be possible to walk on it and wash downstairs windows. In order to eliminate access to it on the far side I've instructed Sho to put in metal bar so that the circumference wall can be extended out onto it.

Underneath the waver one can see that the facing is proceeding along very well.

                            • The top step and waver are one.

The last two feet of height have added allot, its a long way down. Security wise its a long way up.

                              • This is a long exp. The view from the waver will be the view from your windows on the first floor.
