Tito is out of the hospital and taking meds that are helping him and is well enough to continue his work. That's the only word I've gotten. If by 'need anything' you're refering to an advance on a payment I think he would ask Theresa and I might not hear about it, but you definately would.
Zkrib, this is coming into May which is the hot time in the Phils so get ready for some heat when you get off the plane. In June the rainy season starts and it cools off. Usually it rains for a bit, an hour maybe then clears off. Not like Oregon where it settles in for a month. In June also the weather comes from a different direction. The waves will come to your property from the direction of the limestone conveyor rather than the volcano, and be considerably larger with higher tides. The limestone's 'point' there might protect your place from the worst of the waves. My understanding is that they are larger in June because there is a longer reach to the next land in that direction. The June waves even have a name according to Clemente, the 'Habagat' waves iirc. All this is the reason I put the facing/waver before the circumference wall which is what the guys will start next when this project is done and the wall ready to meet the waves.Last edited by Lancer; April 17, 2009, 18:14.Long time member @ Apolyton

Both the laptops have the very common problem with the power jack. In the newer laptop, the jack has come completely off the motherboard. I tried soldering it back on, but it's beyond my crappy skills/crappy soldering iron (which doesn't heat up enough). The "guy who fixes electronic stuff" should be able to do it. No idea if there are more problems aside from that... I'd guess if it was working well before it stopped powering up, that it should work fine once the jack is soldered back on. Didn't look to be any electrical damage to surrounding components.
The older AMD laptop gets power when wiggled just right, as the power jack is only loose, not disconnected from the motherboard. It has another problem that doesn't let it boot up. Runs for 3 seconds then reboots, over and over again. Fan is spinning up, and I reset the heatsink so heat shouldn't be a problem. Checked out the power button to make sure it wasn't sticking and resetting. Don't know what else (fixable) it could be...

The older one can be scrapped.
I had the new one repaired once. Same problem as now, only then, it also shorted out the screen when it died. I guess I'll have the "guy who fixes electronic stuff" look at it.
-- Is there any way you can get the data off the hard drive and store it somewhere, or do we need the laptop to actually be working for us to do that? I do have copies of the word docs but not of the pics.
