Pols often feud with members of the same party. But they usually avoid making damaging comments about national nominees (i.e. "unqualified") when that would clearly hurt their agenda. And as I said, Green's comments are incidental to my point.

Is your point that you love Obama and you'll criticize his opposition in whatever way possible while excusing all of the stuff Obama does?

Hence my first post in this thread?

Ground troops are good, but other candidates could've gotten them.

Doubtful. Everything I've heard is that evangelicals are absolutely ecstatic about the pick, and if anything having a daughter who did a horrible thing like have unprotected premarital sex, but then decided to keep the baby and marry the father, may have helped!

I mean there are stories of evangelicals, hearing of the pick, jumping up and down and hugging each other. I seriously doubt that Huckabee or Romney could have created such an outpouring.

I don't deny that you're capable of posting other stuff, and will do so on occasion.

You're obviously extremely well-read when it comes to political news, but your total Obama slant, starting with the Democratic Primary, and continuing to the general election, has essentially made all of your analysis pretty unreadable. If I got all of my political news from your posts alone, it would sound like Obama won the Democratic nomination by 10%+ and is about to do the same in the general election, even though that's obviously not the case. Essentially, you give the impression that you're out of touch with reality, even though you clearly know a lot about this stuff, and you're doing your credibility a disservice by being so slanted and partisan.

Just a little side question but has Wiglaf always been this insane? I seem to remember him being a run of the mill wing-nut but he now seems to be going for Grandmaster status.
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

Wiglaf is smarter than he appears, and much of his ridiculousness is just an act. Make no mistake about it, he's a nutjob, but he's an intelligent one. He just prefers insulting people to making intelligent arguments. Whatever floats your boat, IMO. I think he's hilarious.

The reaction as I have seen it has been highly positive, and not just with the evangelicals. I'm not the target audience for her, but I know lots of people who are. They went from lukewarm McCain to tears-in-their-eyes gung-ho McCain.

Sort of a silly overreaction, but there you are. We'll see how long it lasts.

Romney might have had problems with the base, but evangelical leaders strongly supported him. They could've pushed the base to turn out. And he has real appeal to swing voters in a climate of economic insecurity; after all, he did preside over the passage of universal health care.

Huckabee, I'm sure, could've rallied the troops. And he's easily one of the most charismatic people in Republican politics. He has issues with other people in the Republican coalition (particularly the economic right - probably why he wasn't considered), but I'm sure he'd have no problems at all relating to the base.

And neither choice would really undercut McCain's experience argument.

I'm not saying that there aren't real positives to the Palin choice. Obviously there are. I think in the absence of the abuse of power questions, she'd be a good choice.

                      I'm glad it's not Romney.

And I probably would have been if I had been caught.

heh I just realised I used the wrong word for "Threw". Must be getting old before my time, but I look 3 years young than my age, holy crap...i'm all screwed up.

But you see, being caned would have taught me very little in the way of not throwing stones. All it would have done is angered me at the guy caning me.

I learned later in life, that the glasshouse I smashed must have cost the owner quite a fair bit of money and I could have hurt someone if they were inside (There wasn't when I did, but the thought never struck me). So you see, I know better than the person who never threw rocks at a glasshouse. That is the point I am trying to make; if you don't make mistakes, you don't learn.

Whether this Palin girl made a mistake or not, none of us really know; she probably was fully aware of what was going on and wanted to get pregnant, and good on her if she did. Oops if she didn't, but not the end of the world. Hopefully mum (or mom) is not going all Judge Judy on her.

The issue is that it is the economic right that really runs the republican party.

                            • Man, this candidacy is full of fail. Did anyone see James Carville on Larry King. He was criticizing Palin's lack of experience and held up picture of the town hall of the place she was mayor, while accurately describing it as looking like "a bait shop".

                              Priceless.

Now the whore of a daughter is knocked up (apparently to some pothead kid who's going to be forced to marry her at gunpoint), and the mother turns out to be a former member of a neofascist Alaskan separatist party who is now running for vice president of the country that only a few years ago she wanted her state to secede from.

You simply cannot make this **** up.

What next? Palin's husband guilty of the gang rape of a canoeing party of city boy liberals?

This is the most retarded election EVAR!!
