Why would they say you can't bring over extra bibles if they had religious freedom?

I don't think freedom of religion includes being able to distribute information to other people.

I've never understood the desire for religious people to pimp their god like a whore.

Ben - Large buildings with the big cross out front (on top), correct? We know where to find you if we're interested. Thanks.

            No.

The decision to hold the Olympics in China has already been made.

In future, perhaps the IOC should not select a repressive dictatorship as the host of the Olympic Games. But that die has already been cast.

I see little reason for America to become involved in this Tibet issue. It truly is not our fight, and we have no interest at stake in the outcome.

Because they wanted to world to realized it's no longer a economically backward country.

Don't get me wrong. IMHO, China should permit freedom of religion. But China's official "religion" is atheism. And, like with so many other countries who have an official government religion that is non-Christian (e.g. Sudan, North Korea, Saudi Arabia), spreading the gospel there is illegal and hence dangerous.

It wanted the approval and respect of the world.

Quite a list. Why is China the host again? I really don't care if it's Christians or the Buddhists under the Dalai Lama, or Falun Gong. They should be permitted to worship, and the restrictions on one group hurt all the others.

You answered your own question in a later post. It's honoring China because it sees it as such and you're deluding yourself if you believe the Olympics to be above politics.

No. Christianity seems to be the only religion where it's followers need to go converting everyone. I think that's a little much to ask.

Because China does not believe in freedom of religion. They believe religion (Western religion, mostly) is a bad social force. Thus, they don't want westerners coming in and converting their residents...

I don't think you would like it if a bunch of Chinese athiest started targeting people at your church.
