They seem to go out of their way loosing with regard to Giuliani's transgressions while holding bound with regard to Huckabee's.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

IMO Romney must win Iowa now. He's staked his candidacy on being the front runner, and has poured tons of money. That he is losing to his closest competitor, Huckabee, shows that he doesn't have what it takes.Romney is doing well in Iowa. If he can win Iowa, he gets momentum that could help propel him to victory. Thompson's national numbers matter nought if he loses big in Iowa. He'll be seen as unelectable and be cast aside.
As for Huckabee I don't think his fiscal management is as good as any of the other candidates save Romney. Romney has the worst record, with Huckabee a bit better.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

None of that, however, really touches on why Thompson is in troubleOriginally posted by Ben Kenobi

. He already has a reputation as a lazy candidate. Losing big in Iowa and NH may reinforce that notion (he didn't try hard enough) and the base may decide that he doesn't have what it takes to go toe to toe with Hillary.
And Romney is close in Iowa. It can go either way. If he wins, he's in good position. That's why he's being mentioned.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Hackabee is loony fringe. He wanted to have AIDS patients rounded up and put into concentration camps "to protect the rest of the population" as if just enducating young people about safe sex was to hard. Also his tax plan is the most horribly regressive I've seen.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Another Republican spewing religious bigotry or using religion to undermine our country's Constitution.
What's new?A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

For real. Not sure if he backed off of that "plan" or not but he did propose it. From a public health stand point it would be a disaster as people would just stop getting AIDS testing rather then risk being imprisoned and then there is the expense of providing health care to all of those prisoners with chronic disease unless he proposes just locking them up and then not caring for them.
His plan to eliminate income tax and all taxes on capital replacing it with a massive national sales tax would be a budget buster aimed at more tax breaks for the wealthy and would place a huge burden on low income people whose effective tax rate would shoot up.
Hackabee is just nuts.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

He seriously had no qualms about publicly stating that he would want people with HIV or AIDS rounded up? And he actually used the words "concentration camps" such as what Nazi Germany had?Originally posted by Oerdin

The problems with that include not only the ones you just mentioned, but the mass violation of human rights.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Thats not exactly what he said, what he id say would negate the reactionary second portion of your post. His plan to eliminate income tax and all taxes on capital replacing it with a massive national sales tax would be a budget buster aimed at more tax breaks for the wealthy and would place a huge burden on low income people whose effective tax rate would shoot up.

More on why Huckabee is the scary choice for Republican candidate.
Click on "View more political news" and then "Huckabee new in spotlight, finds it hot."
I tried posting a link, but it didn't seem to work. Here's an excerpt though.
He's a crazy man.Questioned by reporters this week, Huckabee was unaware of a report the White House released that said Iran had halted its nuclear weapons program. President Bush had held a news conference about the report, and Democrats had focused on it in a debate.
Huckabee said he'd been campaigning so hard in Iowa, he
hadn't had time to read the newspaper or be briefed. And he said that probably would happen again.
Thompson called it surprising that Huckabee would not know. "It's a matter of priorities," he told reporters in Des Moines. "The nuclear ambitions of Iran, who calls us the Great Satan, who's been killing our people for years ... is No. 1 priority for this country, a No. 1 priority for anybody who aspires to be president."
Huckabee understated his role in the release of a rapist, Wayne DuMond, who murdered a woman after being paroled. Huckabee blames former Arkansas Govs. Bill Clinton and Jim Guy Tucker for making the rapist eligible for parole.
Yet Huckabee had questioned whether DuMond was guilty, had met with DuMond's wife before and after becoming governor and had written DuMond, on the day the state parole board freed him: "Dear Wayne ... My desire is that you be released from prison."
...
On occasion, Huckabee has grown testy under the increased scrutiny, as when Thompson criticized his foreign policy joke. Huckabee, who is known for sometimes being thin-skinned, got personal, making cracks about Thompson being lazy and not regularly attending church.Last edited by Alexander I; December 10, 2007, 16:39.The Apolytoner formerly known as Alexander01
