Even the creation story in Genesis, if you take it literally (which is a post 19th century and post-darwin explanation of Gen1/2!!!!) doesn't try to explain how the create came to be, just only that God created it.

If the Christian God's point was that He created everything, the Bible would contain just the first two chapters + some of the ones about the temple and how to treat priests. Obviously there is something more to it.

EDIT, to add. He's told you how He wants things. Close supervision shouldn't be required.

It wasnt the foreskins per se Saul was interested in. No live Philistine was gonna sit around to be circumsized. This was basically asking for "proof of death" - go out and kill a hundred of my enemies, and bring back proof. And obviously these could only come from enemy dead, not Israelite dead. Thats why it works better, than say, asking for scalps.

i agree. and also agree that the above quote from Psalms about not fearing your enemies is true. I may have my problems, but i was probably not clear in saying i am a very resiliant person. i can deal with a lot of pain and strife before i fold. and when, in the rare case, i DO fold... i give my respective cards to God. Regardless this life is pretty insignificant to me. The whole point, in my mind... is to get into heaven. if you just sit back and expect God to do everything for you... you are indeed in for a rude awakening. BUT if you are in DEEP trouble, and about to fall flat on your face, who better to turn to than God? What could go wrong? he will ignore you? i guarentee if your heart is pure and intentions right you will not "FALL" as hard as you think, if you are indeed in a dire situation.

Let me also say and repeat how much people turn to the bible and critique it and quote it in order to prove a point. The bible is not an "argument solver." It is a tool for you to help strengthen your faith. The bible dosent have ALL the answers to all your problems. it wont give you "magic divine powers" from God if you follow its teachings. God wont give you everything on a silver platter. But just perhaps... it will make your life a little bit easier. THAT is the whole point IMHO. The bible is just a book with words from people with divine experiences. As i stated before i dont read the bible much or go to church. But i am just as christian as any other.

Sometimes christians try to OUT-DO eachother as well. Like "IM A BETTER PREACHER THAN YOU!" or "I KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BIBLE THAN YOU!" This also to me is silly, because the bible tells us thou shall not pray with a trumpet... but with a whisper Im paraphrasing of course, but the message is do not flaunt or be vain in your religion. That only leads to more trouble... PIECE
