    • It would probably be a good idea for USC to hang one more TD on Notre Dame. Would better the beatdown Michigan put on the Irish...

QFT. Having USC ranked behind a two-loss team it quite thoroughly spanked is just puzzling.

Yep. And you figure you'd give a team a little more love when they blow out the #2 team in your rankings...

Back in the old days, when I began my college officiating career, the holder of the kick had to rise off his knee before the snap arrived in order not to be ruled down.

                      • Well, Notre Dame only ended up at #2 by default. They got there by beating up on weaker teams and having the teams ahead of them fall. It wasn't like last year when I actively moved them up there.

The Arkansas loss to USC is utterly meaningless to me. It was the first game of the season and Arkansas has made way too many strides since that game, enough to make me believe that given a rematch, the Razorbacks would beat the Trojans.

Only thing that really matters as far as these particular ratings are concerned: The team that should be in line to play Ohio State for the title is Florida, and should Florida lose to Arkansas next week, Michigan should get a rematch. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Rose Bowl: Michigan (at large) vs. Louisiana State (at large)*
Fiesta Bowl - Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ) vs. Boise State (at large)
Orange Bowl - Wake Forest (ACC Champ) vs. Rutgers (Big East) [Ok, more like Louisville, but let me dream]
Sugar Bowl - Florida (SEC Champ) vs. Notre Dame (at large)*

(Assumption is that the conferences and ND will not allow Michigan and ND to play again in a bowl as they have already played in the regular season)

Indeed. They AT LEAST deserve to be #3... but more likely deserve to be #2, and they will in the next BCS rankings, I'm sure of it.

                              • I think it's terrible that Boise State is going to get to play one of the lesser BCS teams. Just like Utah did playing Pitt.

The BCS conferences are simply afraid to lose to a non-BCS team in their special bowl games.

It tells teams like Boise State and Utah that, even though you are undefeated you don't deserve a "good" team to play.
