Argh. It was awful to see special teams make so many mistakes this week and last, after they won the game at Mississippi State.

    • I've got no problem with the folks who argue Fla or Louisville in the NC ... as long as it's argued by wins and losses alone.

I'm tired of hearing ESPN announcers argue how it should only be a conference champion in the NC.

That's @#$%@#. The BCS does not value conference champions in its NC match, and for good reason. It values the top two teams, period. Being a conference champion doesn't have any impact on whether you're a good team or not. It says you're a better team than the eight to twelve other teams in your conference... but saying #2 in the Big 10 is better or worse than #1 in the (other conference) is not possible for those elements alone. Given that the #1 team in the Big 10 is the #1 team overall, all it's saying is that Michigan is not the #1 team. You could quite theoretically have the #1 and #2 teams in the same conference... and at that point you must allow those two teams to play each other.

Anyway, I'm good with either bowl for Michigan. Another chance at OSU would be nice, but if they end up in the Granddaddy of them all, and get to prove themselves against USC, I won't be irritated one bit. Especially if they win, and OSU loses to Fla/Louisville, and there's some question (again) as to whether Michigan might be the #1 team ... imagine if they're #2 in the AP and then win, while OSU loses ... co-champions again

      • If OSU plays Michigan, again, they can say, "We beat all that were sent our way, and Michigan twice".

Send Florida and they can say "We beat everyone they sent us, and didn't have time to keep beating people".

It says you had a longer schedule and one more game against a serious opponent. If you come out with a W, you deserve credit.

          • I don't buy the one-more-game argument for Florida, simply because they elected to schedule a I-AA team, and a piss poor I-AA team at that.

Of all the pro-Florida arguments, that is the one that doesn't hold water.

Then say they had one more game. That's not what ESPN and co. are saying, they're saying conference champion plain and simple.

                  • Florida has passed Michigan in both the AP and the USA Today Coaches poll; the Harris is yet to be revealed.

Looks like a Buckeyes-Gators championship. Quick pick: Buckeyes 34, Gators 10.

That's BS . If you can't win your own conference you don't deserve a chance at the national champ. Sorry, tough luck. How do you decide the top 2 teams? How do you determine if Michigan is better than Florida when their schedules are so different? You CAN'T! But you can see that Michigan wasn't good enough to win its own conference, therefore, they don't deserve to be in the discussion for the #1 team in the country. Finish 1st in your conference for that (it's also why I'm against the Wild Card in baseball).

Here is what it looks like:

National Championship Game: Ohio State (#1 BCS) vs. Florida (#2 BCS - after seeing the AP and Coaches poll numbers)
Rose Bowl: Southern Cal (Pac 10 champ) vs. Michigan (at large)
Sugar Bowl: Notre Dame (at large) vs. LSU (at large)
Orange Bowl: Wake Forest (ACC champ) vs. Louisville (Big East champ)
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma (Big 12 champ) vs. Boise State (auto bid)

I'd rather Big 12 play them than Boise Damn State.

Victim of circumstance. No more than 2 of one conference in BCS bowl games... and Boise State gets in due to their high BCS ranking (above 12). I wouldn't deny an unbeaten their chance.

                            • Me either, I just don't want them playing Big 12.
Oklahoma will have to walk a fine line between appearing "bullyish", or not taking them seriously and blowing it.
