I think I'd actually put the SEC, Pac 10, and Big 10 above the Big 12. The Big 12 is probably equal to the Big East.

Here's a question for all the BCS experts out there:
Given that USC leapt Michigan in the BCS standings largely because their strength of schedule rose after beating 10-1 Notre Dame, couldn't they potentially FALL next week after beating 6-5 UCLA?

You don't fall by winning, though that should be a possibility; but USC has to play UCLA.
That's not the same as scheduling University of McDonald's as a non-conference game.

It's possible, but unlikely. The gap USC has on Michigan now is much bigger than the one Michigan had on USC last week.
It's going to be a day or two before I can get the State of the BCS up, but Imran pretty much nailed what the pairings look like at this point yesterday. If you go by the book, you get two undesirable bowl matchups right now (Michigan/ND rematch in the Rose and SEC teams against each other in the Sugar). I think the BCS would be able to tolerate one bad matchup, but not two.
The other interesting question to think about: Should Rutgers win next week, it's possible they may not bounce up enough in the rankings to pass Boise State (given the West Virginia loss this week). By the book, then, Boise should go to the Orange and Rutgers to the Fiesta. It doesn't have a chance in hell of happening, though, and it's got nothing to do with Boise being a mid-major. There's no way the Orange is going to want to pass up on a Battle of the Underdogs selling point that a Wake/Rutgers matchup would create.

I don't think so... USC's SOS is higher than Michigan regardless (UCLA is a bowl eligible team as well, after all). And the BIG thing is that USC is now #2 in BOTH the Coaches Poll and the Harris.. and I don't see them drop out of that unless they lose to UCLA.

Regarding Notre Dame's loss to USC, it was painful, but the score didn't lie about who was the better team (no excuses). To me, the USC victory against Notre Dame was more impressive than the Michigan victory, because there weren't many Notre Dame turnovers in the USC game and there were numerous Notre Dame turnovers in the Michigan game.
It seems clear that OSU, USC, and Michigan are in a class among themselves. OSU v. USC should be an excellent game and in my mind much preferable to an OSU v. Michigan rematch. I'm rooting for OSU. USC will be a killer team next year.
Notre Dame looks BCS-bound and should be able to compete against anybody. Nobody wants a rematch with with Michigan, so as I understand it, they will put Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

There is some talk that Notre Dame will have a rematch with Michigan, since the Rose Bowl will get first dibs on choices. Normally, this bowl would be a dream arrangement for everybody (and I would love to see Notre Dame play in the Rose Bowl), but not with this opponent. Leave the rematches to the SEC.
