  • Maybe Bama had Spurrier lined up? Sorry, it just seems that every big name job that comes open is linked to Spurrier. First Miami, now Alabama...

          • Btw, rumors seem to have it that LSU will be the team invited by the Rose Bowl to be their second participant after Southern Cal/Michigan. If true, the BCS picture looks:

National Championship: Ohio State vs. Southern Cal/Michigan*
Rose Bowl: Southern Cal/Michigan* vs. LSU
Sugar: SEC Champ vs. Notre Dame
Orange: ACC Champ vs. Big East Champ
Fiesta: Big XII Champ vs. Boise State

            * - depending on Southern Cal vs. UCLA outcome.

Boise State has an auto berth because they are the champ of a non-BCS Conference and will finish above 12 in the BCS standings (also are in the top 16 of the BCS standings and will finish ahead of the ACC Champ, a BCS conference champ). Notre Dame will be an at large for finishing in the Top 14 of the BCS, but is basically an automatic due to the money they bring in (if they were in the Top 8, they'd get an auto bid).

              • Btw, since picking bowl stuff interests me greatly (as you probably can tell), I'm going to try to predict how the bowls will go (basically involves picking who'll win Title games at this point):

National Championship: Ohio State vs. Southern Cal
                Rose Bowl: Michigan vs. LSU
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Notre Dame
Orange Bowl: Wake Forest vs. Louisville
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Boise State

In this situation you have some very interesting games. The national championship looks great; the Rose looks like a battle between two great defenses; and the Orange looks like two interesting offensive systems facing off. UF vs. ND also looks interesting in a "who's more overrated" way. And in the Fiesta, can Boise knock off one of the big guys... who may, may have Adrian Peterson back.

Of course, OSU plays my Tar Heels this Wednesday (at 9pm on ESPN!), so their lofty ranking will be short-lived!
I think it happened a few years ago. Oklahoma maybe? Not sure.

                    • It was the first time that a school was #1 in ACTIVE football and basketball polls. In the past, the football or basketball team had ended its season and the other hit #1, but this was the first time that both sports for one college was #1 in polls that were not concluded.

                          • Supposedly Nebraska fans have bought up ~60-70,000 of the tickets to the Big 12 title game. Arrowhead seats a little less than 80,000. Home game for the Huskers!!!

Wake will get pounded by Louisville. I mean straight flattened. That's not really fair to anyone involved in that matchup. I hope things can shape up differently.

                              • I'll be pulling for the Huskers, but I'm not optimistic.

I think Georgia Tech beats Wake, Arkansas beats Florida, West Virginia beats Rutgers, Oklahoma beats Nebraska, and USC beats UCLA.

I'm very torn. As a Michigan fan, I'd love to see Michigan get into the NC game; on the other hand, I don't want to see them lose to OSU again, which is what would happen. As a college football fan, I don't think OSU should have to beat Michigan twice; however, as a college football fan, I want to see the BCS embarrassed again, and the best way for that to happen is for Michigan to make it to the NC game.
