They almost got caught in a look-ahead trap game. Same thing happened to Ohio State and Michigan two weeks ago. I'm not that concerned about it.

1) OSU
2) Michigan
3) Florida
4) Notre Dame
5) Arkansas
6) USC
7) Louisville
8) WVU (will love to watch them scorch someone in a bowl)
9) Texas
10) LSU
I hope Florida gets to play OSU for the championship game. I mean, I'll watch a Michigan - OSU rematch, but I'd rather see somebody else (not including USC).
WVU is far and away my favorite team to watch play. I can't believe some of you don't still have them in your top 10. I guess I really haven't seen Wisconsin play though, otherwise I might have them there.

Being an Arkansas fan, I don't know what to think about the Hogs even being mentioned in the same breath as National Championship. We have been talking about replacing the coach for so long here that it's kind of funny to see all those backtracking after this year. I must admit that a lot of luck has gone into our season but it never hurts to be lucky and good enough to take advantage of that luck. There are a few fans down here crying because Arkansas hasn't gotten more respect but respect is earned by being consistent. It will take more than just one good season but what I'm happy about is that the more we win the more attention from future recruits is thrown our way and to me that is more important than being in the National Championship game.Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

I bet Tressel's going to be canonized in Columbus.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Yay... one week and Rutgers is back to sucking again. This is the Rutgers I know and love. OTOH, I think I may have been wrong about USC (the California kind). If they beat ND (and I think they will), they deserve their place in the NC game:
1. Ohio State
2. USC (Southern Cal)
3. Michigan
4. Arkansas
5. Louisville
6. Florida
7. West Virginia
8. Wisconsin
9. Texas
10. Notre Dame“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

OSU's opponent will be one of four teams:
--USC will likely be there if they win out, unless
--Florida wins out and ends up ahead of them, but
--Arkansas might be there if they win out and USC loses along the way, and in the nightmare scenario
--Michigan will get a rematch if all of the above three lose a game, and would likely even stay in front of Arkansas if they win out.
As for the rest...
--Notre Dame has no chance of ending up ahead of Michigan after the Great South Bend Pimpslapping of 2006, and
--West Virginia, Louisville, and Rutgers aren't going to end up ahead of Michigan in the standings, which leaves
--Wisconsin, which actually would have a better argument than Notre Dame regarding the Michigan thing, and that and 50 cents will get you a newspaper, and finally
--Boise State. Really, the only team that could be said to "deserve" a chance at the title, and the only team that has absolutely zero chance to get it.
If we do end up with the nightmare scenario, and I were forced to choose who I'd rather see play OSU, I'd flip a coin between Boise State and Louisville.
For the record, under my playoff paradigm, Michigan would have no chance to make the tournament. Only conference champs with at least 10 Div I-A wins and no more than one loss could make it, plus any independant who met those criteria."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Guy, you should be rooting for a lackluster ND win over an unimpressive USC squad.
Anyway, ND still has a small chance, if only because some people may do their polling based mainly on what matchup they want to see. That's why the SEC teams have a small chance too.Last edited by DanS; November 19, 2006, 11:18.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It should be Arkansas vs. Ohio State, assuming Arkansas beats LSU.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

First game of the season.
Given your line of thought, Oregon St. should be paired up against Ohio State.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

To my mind, there is a question of justice here...
(1) OSU beat Michigan in the last game and should not have to beat Michigan again for the NC.
(2) Michigan appears to be the 2nd best team (except, perhaps USC) and should be first in line to play for the NC.
Whose rights should we want to most protect?
Btw, this problem would only be magnified in a playoff, because OSU clearly is the best after the season.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter.
