Oh yeah, like education isn't costing us enough as it is. I'd personally like to see an end to supporting the Catholic system myself, but I realize it's not bloody likely. Well, that's interesting. I can tell you, for a fact, that there a still a crapload of Catholic-with-a-capital-C schools in Central Alberta. I'm graduating from one this year, and I assure you, the doctrine is alive and well.Why? Neither school board was particularly interested in doctrinal teachings when I went through the public school system (due to large presence of non-Christian students and almost equal mixture of both Prods and Catholics). By now I'd be surprised if they ever mentioned it.
And yes, I realise it's hypocritical of me to want the gubment to stop funding Catholic schools when I attend one, but I figure, why not try and take 'em down from the inside, eh? Actually, by the time I figured out how wrong it was, I didn't really feel like throwing my social life into disorder by school-switchin' for the sake of idealism.

I've lived in both the US and Canada, and damnit, if you're middle class or above the US is a much better place to live in.

I think that the Catholic system is cheaper to operate than the public system. The church is saving the government money, rather than the other way 'round.
