"We cannot come out and say that (former U.S.) President John F. Kennedy was a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team and so Warner cannot come out and say Alexander was gay," Varnakos said.

Well they could if they wanted, we just won't take it seriously.. maybe they don't realize that?

A group of Greek lawyers are threatening to sue Warner Bros film studios and Oliver Stone, director of the widely anticipated film "Alexander," for suggesting Alexander the Great was bisexual.

On what? Libel of a national symbol?

ATHENS, Nov 19 (Reuters) - A group of Greek lawyers are threatening to sue Warner Bros film studios and Oliver Stone, director of the widely anticipated film "Alexander," for suggesting Alexander the Great was bisexual.

And they said in the article that they are not against gays -- it has to do with anything BUT knee-jerk, homophobic reaction, I suppose, eh?

There were disciplined phalnaxes, lots of grunting, smashing of heads with rocks and all that blood and gore.

The second battle I don't want to reveal, but I'll say two words: War Elephants.
IIRC Alexander used a phalanx of Hoplites, greek heavy infantry, for this attack. The cavalry was used to distract the rest of the Persian force while the hoplites pushed into the Persian line on a very narrow front. Some military tacticians see this tactic as the forerunner of the modern Blitzkrieg tactic.

Note that the Greeks do not dispute Alexander's alleged hairiness, however.

                            • One of the greatest military leaders of all time, Alexander, who was never defeated in battle, conquered about 90 percent of the then-known world before his mysterious death at the age of 32, building an empire that stretched from the Mediterranean to Afghanistan.

Mysterious? I thought they knew he died of malaria.
