As a sidenote, the US version of Team America removed the sex scene.

No, it didn't. They just had to remove a couple of the more raunchy bits of the sex scene (golden shower, IIRC)...

Because Christians tend to be conservative, they freak out if someone is naked or having sex.

Don't ask them to be logical, it's not in their nature.

I don't think americans are ready for a major blockbuster film to have gay themes.
Trust me, the number of people who would boycott a historical movie of one of the most important people to have ever lived because they got something accurate is small. On the other hand, the number of people who love to see epic battle scenes with blood and gore is immense. I'd bet more people would boycott it because Oliver Stone made it, hehe...

Oh yeah, I didn't know so many Greeks were blond Must have been some early Norse invasion we don't know about...

Why on earth would anyone imagine you could make a movie about classical civilization without homosexuality?

There's a quote in a novel I have where someone describes the Classics as "Wars and homos". That's pretty accurate from my experience.

One of my favourite teaching experiences is when students finally realize what this means. You have to say, "Yes. Of course they're gay. What do you mean you didn't know?"

Some of the more conservative ones come over all sick when they realize that Socrates gets all hot for muscular young men.

            From the Charmides.

Very well, he said; then I will call him; and turning to the attendant, he said, Call Charmides, and tell him that I want him to come and see a physician about the illness of which he spoke to me the day before yesterday. Then again addressing me, he added: He has been complaining lately of having a headache when he rises in the morning: now why should you not make him believe that you know a cure for the headache?

Why not, I said; but will he come?
He will be sure to come, he replied.
He came as he was bidden, and sat down between Critias and me. Great amusement was occasioned by every one pushing with might and main at his neighbour in order to make a place for him next to themselves, until at the two ends of the row one had to get up and the other was rolled over sideways. Now my friend, was beginning to feel awkward; former bold belief in my powers of conversing with him had vanished. And when Critias told him that I was the person who had the cure, he looked at me in such an indescribable manner, and was just going to ask a question. And at that moment all the people in the palaestra crowded about us, and, O rare! I caught a sight of the inwards of his garment, and took the flame. Then I could no longer contain myself. I thought how well Cydias understood the nature of love, when, in speaking of a fair youth, he warns some one "not to bring the fawn in the sight of the lion to be devoured by him," for I felt that I had been overcome by a sort of wild-beast appetite. But I controlled myself, and when he asked me if I knew the cure of the headache, I answered, but with an effort, that I did know.

I think its pretty well known that Alexander and Hephaistion shared more than the occasional falafel.

Also remember that this is an Oliver Stone film IIRC, so he delights in stirring up controversy. It should be interesting.

No, they learned the difference between Good and Evil and for that God kicked 'em out and taught them how to be ashamed.

This probably meant that before Adam and Eve ate the apple they were doing every breathing thing in sight since they couldn't possibly know they were doing anything wrong and it was because of that that the Lord God put this great big apple tree right there in the middle with a large sign saying Do Not Touch.
