Yeah, I wonder if it will do well in the US too. I'm sure world wide sales might help it along too... provided its a good movie.

But I actually saw Farell on Leno last night and he said the movie "didn't push the envelope", so I'm guessing there won't be much, if any, gay scenes. Although the theme alone might be enough to turn alot of fundies away.

For anyone who cares, I saw the movie on Monday, and it's going to do awful because it's a horrible, almost three hour long mess. I'll elaborate if anyone wants to know...

There is TEH GAY, but nothing explicit, just references to Alexander being "weak for Hephestion's thighs", longing glances, a kiss and whatnot. There's sex scenes at all between Alexander and any other men.
If you look around and think everyone else is an *******, you're the *******.

She was spectacular looking, as usual, but she had this fake accent that sounded Russian but could be from who knows where.

The accents were one of the worst parts too. Couldn't Farrell at least put on a fake American accent or a Greek one just for this movie? Nothing is more bothersome than Irish, English, American and Russian and Latin accents all together in a period piece...

Seriously though, did they screw with ancient battle tactrics anywhere near as badly as Troy did?

Well at least they got the bi part right. Perhaps that is a symbol of how far we've come... of course this means the fundy right will be out protesting.

I can't say for certain. There were two battles in the film: versus the Persians where the were outnumbered 5 to 1 (IIRC) where the Greek calvary managed to run through the middle (after having their flanks drawn to the sides) and almost kill the Persian king. There were disciplined phalnaxes, lots of grunting, smashing of heads with rocks and all that blood and gore.

The second battle I don't want to reveal, but I'll say two words: War Elephants.

I hope they made it abundantly clear that ancient Macedonians were NOT Greeks

They did initially, but after a while they kind of were used interchangeably.

                            That's about right.

I seem to remember having an argument about this with you about A Beautiful Mind.

You said it wasn't an issue that they ignored the fact that Nash was bisexual, and now you're glad they're including the fact that Alexander was?
