Yeah, because OBL actually ever ran Afghanistan . What other BS are going to concoct in order to back the Idiot-in-Cheif? He's basically in the same position now as he was before 9/11. He's in the mountains while hundreds of his followers surround him and protect him. Only now his recruitment is through the roof!

If you don't think that he didn't have people after him before explain why a man worth that much was hiding out in the mountains in the first place?

Indeed. I'd say OBL counted on EXACTLY a response as this. What would blowing up the Twin Towers with no reprisal have done? Nothing. Made him reviled in most quarters, look a little better in a few others. Afghanistan wasn't going to change that.

But Iraq... ah. Now OBL is gaining recruits by the day. People who'd never join on 9/12 are now signing up in record numbers after the US invaded Iraq in what they think is a war against Muslims (and it ain't just uneducated types... many Muslims think Bush wants to have a war against Islam in general).

OBL gets his recruits and blows up the Twin Towers. Al Queda has never been more powerful. And Bush is to blame.... yay.

Well, considering American citizens were willing to go to Afghanistan to fight for OBL, even given how bad the situation looked for them, I don't think I'm surprised that OBL could gain recruits at an Easter parade.

My experience in Iraq is that numerous guys are planning on voting for Kerry simply because Kerry has promised to end stop loss. If stop loss did end and tour of duties shortened, as Kerry has said he'd do, then I'd expect morale to increase not decline.

I can tell you this. I have sat with Muslims about to go off on Jihad. They are very focused on the time and place of the struggle. If the struggle is in Iraq, they will go there. If there is nowhere specific for them to go, now you have a problem. They may turn up in an aircraft aimed at a building near you.
