  • I think ANYBODY would have done that.

There is no way the people would stand for the President NOT invading.

    • Carter might have tried to observe an election. You know, to see if they were correcting themselves

      • Nah, even Carter would've invaded Afghanistan. That isn't politics that's just self-preservation.

        • Actually, the Washington Post has a nice poll put together that has Kerry ahead by 2 percentage points, though that's within the margin of error.

The key thing to note is that this has proportionate representation of republicans, democrats, and independents compared that existed in the 2000 election (it is part of their methodology). In other words, Kerry is going to get a boost in the popular vote compared to that poll.

The more time passes, the more it looks like Kerry is going to win. Quite frankly there is very little that can happen in the world to help Bush, but we are inundated nearly daily with further failings of the current administration.

There are only a few reasons why this race is even close. The tendency to back the incumbant just because he's incumbant (enhanced by 9/11 and the war). The fact that administration is so secretive it can be hard to have a good look at its failings. The fact the media isn't doing their job and is failing America. And lastly the Karl Rove certainly is a big boon to Bush, especially given the third reason I gave. Otherwise this would be a landslide victory for Kerry.

If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties. It's that fundamental belief -- I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper -- that makes this country work." - Barack Obama

I call bull****. The man was more forceful dealing with killer rabbits than he was when dealing with people holding Americans hostage.

yeah... leave it to the GOP, with it's tens of millions of registered party members, 150 years of history, and over a dozen presidents, to bring modern Jacobins together with bolsheviks... oh and don't forget Lyndon LaRouche!
LaRouche was a Democrat and I mentioned Clinton and Kerry in my critique. But what does the history or popularity of the GOP have to do with it's bungling foreign policy over the last 2 1/2 decades? Oh, what's a modern Jacobin? I imagine you meant it as an insult...

                    • And then promptly gave up.

OBL and Zarqawi count on things like that. They get really confused when you say 'f*ck you' and keep on coming.

                      • Yeah, OBL's Al Queda recruitment drives are REALLY hurting by Bush saying 'f*ck you'. Part of me thinks OBL counted on Bush being this stupid. It seems Bush fell right into tht trap.

                            • Yeah. OBL's sure happy about not having a country to run as a personal fiefdom.

Zarqawi will sure be happy the day he buys it when he ****s up and a marine greases him in Iraq... rather than in New York.

Speaking of which, where are the mujahadeen minded muslims going to? The US? I don't think so.

                              • Moreover, since the day Afghanistan was not OBL's fiefdom anymore(edit: assuming it ever was, of course), it became impossible for an airhead with a false passport to bring explosives in America and blow things up.
