On second thought, Horse, I'd bring along my Marine Corp nephew. The two of us might be able to dish it out for a good while before you Aussies took tail and ran.

Sure, and next you'll be telling us the Easter Bunny is real.

Canada: Death penalty abolished in 1974, murder rates have steadily decreased since then.
US: Has the death penalty and murder rates are high.

Conservatives need to face reality: Murderers don't give a ****e about the death penalty. They are either too stupid to think about the consequences or they have a death wish.

And face the simple fact that conservative policies that use the court system to fight crime always fail. If you want to reduce crime then reduce poverty. It's simple, which is why the conservatives can't grasp the concept.

Crazy Americans.......John Wayne has a lot to answer for.
Wayne is a symptom, not a disease. And I thought you guys were in the midst of having most of your guns confiscated by the state which used the registration lists to facilitate their power grab.

Fortunately, I'm a big guy and I can take care of myself! I heard however that the criminality rate in France is quite high.
I've been there. It did seem a little dodgy, but I'm a badass and looked a little dodgy myself.

That's probably because of the red acacia mushrooms they consumed. It's a narcotic popular in the past in different cultures, one of the side effects aside from getting high is the person becomes enraged. It's believed that the viking berserkers consumed these mushrooms before battle to enter a frenzy. Anyway, the stuff doesn't breakdown even when it goes to your bladder so you can drink the piss of someone who get's high of the stuff and get high yourself.

Great site you found. Very objective.

Let me quote from the section 'The Deterrent Effect of Capital Punishment':

Abolitionists will claim that most studies show that the death penalty has no effect on the murder rate at all. But that's only because those studies have been focused on inconsistent executions. Capital punishment, like all other applications, must be used consistently in order to be effective. However, the death penalty hasn't been used consistently in the USA for decades, so abolitionists have been able to establish the delusion that it doesn't deter at all to rationalize their fallacious arguments. But the evidence shows that whenever capital punishment is applied consistently or against a small murder rate it has always been followed by a decrease in murder. I have yet to see an example on how the death penalty has failed to reduce the murder rate under those conditions.
So he basically agrees that the death penalty doesn't work in the USA. He then backs up his original statement with a story about 19th century India. Maybe it would have any relevance if the US was being plagued by roaming murder gangs.
