and modern greek has plenty of advantages, one of them being well being yourself and an inheritor of the best culture ever! flows in your vains, you act like it and in justapostiction come the english animals.

      it's all good!

The 'Modern' Greek- drinks Turkish coffee, wears Levi's (American) jeans, drives a German car, listens to bouzouki music on a Japanese hi fi, and looks back to the last time his culture amounted to anything- Alexander the Great.

      How sad. Our sincerest condolences.

      • It's Greek coffee, turks got it from byzantium, it's greek jeans although most now hate them and go for more stylish wear, about bouzouki there are wonders to be found in there, japanese hi-fi is good and we are doing plenty. your knowing only about alexander it's your fault.

80% of music consumed is indigenous in production. highest % in EU. Athens has more theaters than London (including the ancient ones) and gives more performances, we are envelopped in total greek culture production which doesnt make us puke our brains out and go rape compatriots and pass out and vomit in the streets like animals.

sad gits, as i said, the whole continent laughs at you.

anyway, wasted keyboard potency typing all this to gay brits.

"for them (the unbelievers) garments of fire shall be cut and there shall be poured over their heads boiling water whereby whatever is in their bowels and skin shall be dissolved and they will be punished with hooked iron rods" (Koran 22:19-22)

          • what yall dont seem to realize is that Islam is the only one of the semitic/abrahamic faiths that is truly universal. Other so-called universal religions (like Christianity) still insist salvation is only possible through Christ and living as Christ commanded.
So why is this not universal? Christians assert that everyone, regardless of tribe or nation, can know Christ.

Such corruptions though are not seen as heretical. The basic message in Judaism and Christianity, the koran says, is truthful enough and is as God intended so, putting aside some aspects of both faiths, good Christians and Jews will have paradise...
Interesting. So even through shirk, Christians receive the same blessings as Muslims?

i don't think yall appreciate how startling and groundbreaking this was in the 7th century nor how ahead of its time and unique it was up until the Enlightenment... to say other religions are just as valid as your own and that practicioners of other faiths will also be rewarded by your God?
But you haven't really said that, Albert.

You insist that Christianity has 'corrupted' the true religion, and that Judiasm has done the same. How can this mean that their religions are just as valid as your own, if they are corrupt?

Either they are not corrupt, or they are less valid than Islam.

What about Native Americans before 1492 and everyone who lived before Jesus Christ? They didn't know about Jesus. Are they in hell just because they never knew about him?

See Christianity is bull**** because supposedly all you need to get into heaven is faith. So Hitler could just have faith in Jesus and still go to heaven. Sorry, but that's too much of a loophole.

The correct answer to religion is simple. We don't know. Nobody living, and nobody who has ever lived, knows if there is a God. So all religions... Judaism, Islam, Christianity... they all are works of fiction created by humans. And thus, shouldn't be believed in.

yeah but the New Testament is kind of touchy-feely lovey dovey... but don't worry, I think Christianity is just as evil as Islam.

The good thing about the bible is that most Christians do not see it as the literal word of god. Instead the bible is a collection of writtings by learned men who were inspired by god and/or who are recording the teachings of men such as Jesus who were touched by god.

Since men wrote it the bible is subject to the weaknesses of man. Man who is capable of misunderstanding god.

Yeah, but there's that nagging thing called "proof". Sorry, but if someone comes up to me and says they have the word of God, I kind of need to see some proof. And a bunch of stories about some dude walking on water 2000 years ago doesn't quite cut it.

If God created me, he created my critical thinking mind. Surely a religion that is true would be written in such a way to satisfy the questions of the critical mind.

I have to jump in here to back you up Ben before Albert answers. Basically, islam has it that the "people of the book" can be "faithful"=muslim if they accept supremacy of the umma, i.e. subvert to the dimma-system. This system gives them certain rights, most importantly "living according to their own law" for completely internal affairs and smaller protections, but the system also means rigid restrictions (a few picked out):
No muslim may convert to them, only in the opposite direction it is possible.
No new Churches/Synagogues may be built, only old ones repaired. The people of the book may not "interfere" with their religiosity in the religious life of the muslim or put their faith to a test - islam leaves plenty room open here to interpret this more liberal or highly restrictive (where every showing of faith in public is disturbing muslim religious life, or even having pigs running through the street).
Their word at court means nothing, punishments for muslim and dimmi offender vary as do crimes against a muslim or dimmi.
                            Etc., etc.
