“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

True.. but it's not a valid argument anymore, since everyone is on the internet these days. Even Tyson.
Damn head ache, can't get no sleep! I was sleeping so fine in the day, watching stars and listening to Chariots of Fire. Naturally I don't have any painkillers either.

You remember my ideas about experience travelling, and that it would make money?
Well check out the latest.. 'Get KO'd!!' or 'Step into the ring!' You can buy these as a present to someone who's been talking all crap about you. Or badly behaving kids.
I don't know how it would do in the US, but in Japan this would be an instant hit, they have weird desires .
Would be an awesome job too. KO people from the morning till the day is over.

I know I need training. Everyone needs. Except losers, they don't need to train to be losers
Nah, this is better. I'll pay the price of being stupid and getting caught, painkillers are shortcuts!

My advice is to never "spar" (by this I mean where people are taking full power shots to your head) or fight standing unless you absolutely must. The odds of getting KO-ed are just too great, and getting KO-ed means that you have a concussion, and concussion is just a polite word for brain damage. When should you fight standing?
1) When the other guy is better on the ground and you are better standing.
2) In a brawl or a situation where there are several possible assailants and you can't risk going to ground and getting stomped to death.
Bring it to the ground and the chances of getting your head smashed are considerably lower. You only have to worry about the ground and pound, and that's hard for someone else to accomplish unless they are very good on the ground. (see #1 above)
When you get to the ground be patient. If you can't get a submission easily, ride him and wear him down. Annoy him with techniques that hurt until he gives you an opening if necessary. I find fingers are often very good to attack (in a fight obviously, I'd never break fingers in a sparring match), as they will cripple your opponent if he lets you break them, and they hurt like hell when they are broken or even bent backwards a bit.

Hey Goldmember, Hey Goldmember!
This should go for the rest of the folks, as naturally I know this already .
That was what I meant by being cocky.. thinking that I could stand up with him. My stand up is not THAT bad, after all I train it on regular basis. But it's not in the level of my friend. And as you can see, the actual fight laster maybe less than 2 minutes with bouncing around taking most of the time. After few combos missing and me getting hit and as I learned that I'm not able to step in with this guy, I went for the shoot, that was succesful.
THe only mistake I made that I slipped of his back, and the mistake part was that after that he escaped from my backdoor. And as I set up my shoots, I throw kicks and punches. I just don't dance around and wait for the perfect moment, I need to set it up with guys that are good in the first place. That means striking. I thought he'd wait a surprise after getting up, like me high kicking, so I thought I'd go for his liver instead as a less risky kick and that way I could seriously follow it up with punching and there on take it on the ground, or take distance, throw few combos succesful or not setting up my next shoots.
It didn't work out for me today. He caught my leg and I was history. I'm not that bad of a kicker either, that I shouldn't kick at all. So I don't blame my tactics at that point. I think I did the right thing, it was good because reconsructed play-by-play fight by cut man and my buddy showed he bounced to my right (his left), and he is fighting with his right hand more extended, meaning he bounced to the wrong direction. I saw it and tried to capitalize. I'd still do the same if he did that. Either another liver kick, or punch with my right hand.
I mind my buddy has a decent takedown defense, he can brawl good, so setting up is a must, or I'll be eating knees and elbows shooting. I know my ground game, so that wasn't a problem. Well I screwed up for sure missing a perfect rear naked choke and letting him escape, but that happens sometimes. It just wasn't my day this time.
And I don't know what kind of sick vale tudo you do where you go for the fingers . Small joint manipulation is definitely a big no no. And after all sparring is sparring and fighting with a friend is still not the same as wanting to break someones fingers

So basically I'm agreeing you all the way, except for the fingers part, I'd never do that to anyone. Except if it was a real situation.

That's what I said, only in a real fight, never while sparring.
Btw, do you tend to do damage when you take people down, or are you mainly interested in maintaining control? I tend to simply set up my submissions with my throws, but have always wondered how effective a throw can be in a real fight. I have never really slammed somone in a fight because I was too afraid to kill them. (It always seems like I fight on very hard surfaces like concrete or tile.) On the mat though I have slammed people a bit, though never on the head.

Hey Goldmember, Hey Goldmember!
I usually go for clean shoots, double legs etc. Not so much for damage. I sometimes look for slams, but it's a double edged sword since I don't want to do it too much because even in the mat it can hurt a bit too much. So, If I slam someone, I do it so that I don't use full power. And that's why I tend to go with clean shoots in the first place.
In the streets first of all I don't fight, but if I had to, I wouldn't slam anyone. It's just too dangerous. Just weighed myself and I'm 89 kilos, so picking up a guy and throwing him on his back or neck is .. I don't even want to think about it . I trained a piledriver after I saw Bob Sapp doing one, but only the technique because that's a sure neck braker and brain killer.
But I'd say slams in real fights could be VERY effective. Maybe too effective.
