    • "PAL,

A quick update on our very important ongoing discussion:

Imperio completed research of Mathematics this turn, as we stated they would in our last email. Furthermore they currently have 124 shields invested in The Oracle in their capital. If PAL trades Imperio Code of Laws for Mathematics Imperio will slingshot Civil Service. Coupled with their GNP of 116 beakers-per-turn this will allow them to run away with the game. Obviously both RB and PAL have an interest in preventing Imperio from doing so.

We would like to reiterate our request for you to delay your trade with Imperio, and reaffirm our promise to gift you our free tech if we are able to successfully land Oracle on turn 95. We eagerly await your reply.

      -RB"

Also, I've looked over the various team rosters, and found PAL actually has at least 3 MP guys. Sullla has informed up Whiplash is an old-school MP guy, and CrescentFresh and Jobe are both current players. So for what it's worth, even if Whiplash isn't making decisions by himself, the team may still err on the aggressive side through consensus.

      • Sounds good.
We could add that Mutal currently gets 26gpt in a normal tile configuration. With Bureaucracy that will get to 39gpt!

        • I think the word 'discussion' is pushing it as we have been talking and they have been saying 'nothing', 'na-da', 'zippo', 'zilch'.

          • What could be worse than Imperio slinging CS?

Imperio slinging CS and giving it to PAL.

It occurs to me that Imperio might have the same deal with PAL that we've been offering. PAL feeds Imperio a key intermediate tech, Imperio slingshots something huge and gives it back to PAL. In other words, PAL could be willfully enabling that CS slingshot. I don't think PAL really considers themselves in any long-term alliance with us; they're playing like AI Mansa and just taking any mutually beneficial deals from all sides.

            • T-Hawk raises some interesting points. Do we want to broach a long term alliance with PAL. They did mention it earlier but preferred a 3-way team approach to get the most out of their teching.

              • PAL didn't seem to bothered about us trying to beat Imperio to Oracle, so I don't think they've made a pact with them to get CS in return for CoL (I assume they're getting Maths).

We should check whether Imperio proposes the trade in-game (if possible) and see what PAL does. Nothing, we hope, but bailing on a deal with the tech leader will hurt them a lot, whatever we offer in compensation.

                • Hmm, good point T-Hawk. But there is not much we can do against that at the moment.

@ruff: the 3-way team approach, iirc, was initiated after we declined to agree to a closer relationship.

                  • Thanks MH. How about we send sunrise's draft but send it to all PAL email addresses that we have and ask for a receipt acknowledgment.

                    • I've had the same thought, T-Hawk. But if PAL and Imperio choose to coordinate like that, what can we do? Best to assume that they won't and try to make the best of it. Given the extreme lack of communication that Imperio seems to be doing, and their trouble with English, I don't think they're working too closely together.

I don't particularly care about the actual text, let's just send something off ASAP. I thought sunrise's message was fine.

                      • @Swiss - PAL doesn't have to cancel the deal or anything. They just have to delay. They can claim (lie) whatever problem they want (say an emergency unit upgrade necessitating 0% research) and the problem solves itself in 4 turns.

                        • Agreed. Send sunrise message.

                          • I also vote for Sunrise's message. Please send it as soon as possible, because it will not do much good if trade happens in game before message is recieved.

                              • Bailing was the wrong word, but to delay the trade for no good reason (as far as Imperio is concerned) is definitely not going to go down well with them.
