  • 'protest mightily' to who? Just PAL or everyone?

This is what PAL said re horses ...

Barb issues ... We have a chop in one of our cites (hence horses this turn is so key) ... Which means we can make a chariot and kill both axes before they breaks our gems, causing unhappiness, and possibly break our cows too. The city they are approaching has an axe in it therefore will not fall, but we can't attack as it's across river - City is only connected via a river ... no roads.

We have horses, which will be hooked in 4 turns (maybe 5), at which point we can give these horses back.

    Thanks,
    PAL

    • Towards PAL of course. Telling them we never intended to support a war against another team. This is assuming they have declared.

Well, they clearly intended to declare before hooking up their own horses, if in fact they do have any.

      • I think we shouldn't complain to PAL and should instead maintain closer relations with them. We knew that it was only a matter of time until PAL took over their continent. Our horses just allowed them to do it a couple turns sooner. So I'd rather keep "our horses helped you conquer your continent" as a diplomatic card to ask for future consessions, instead of wasting it in a useless complaint.

        • I mean ... it's bad but ... we'd probably have done the same.

          • Common decency would suggest that we protest to PAL. But Realpolitik power gaming suggests playing things move along Zeviz's suggestion.

Since we can't do squat about what's going on over there, might as well avoid complaining and coming off like babies. It's not like there's an international community to work with - no one other than PAL even has contact with Rabbits.

            • Just ask them to fill us in on the conflict.
              Who started.
              Aims?
Role of RB horses in their strategy.

              • We should keep quiet until they confirm the CoL-Mono deal, at the very least.

                • They have already accepted the trade.

                    • draft email ...

                      PAL,

War with Banana! Wow. Can you fill us in on what happened? Did they declare or did you? How is it going? If you started it - what are your aims? If they started it, what do you think their aims are?

BTW - We're assuming that you didn't request our horses just to augment your war effort against The Fruit. Some of Team RB have voiced a concern that our resources are being used aggressively against another team without our concent ... but, as I say, you cannot make an omelet without breaking some eggs.

                      Cheers,

                      Ruff

                      • War with Rabbits, not Banana. Pay attention diplo corps!

And please et rid of the omelet statement. This sounds like we give our ok.

                        • Erm, I don't really see the point of an email. The answers to our questions we can answer ourselves. They attacked rabbits because they want to win the game. Of course they used our horses to do so. m-h: What is it you want (and what do you expect) to achieve by sending them an email?

                          • I'd skip the reference to their war for now, and ask them when we can expect our horses back as we've seen a couple of barb axes wandering around in our hinterland.

                            • If we want to play the card "you used our horses for war before" we have to mention that now, for it to have some value.

We are throwing around lots of diplo talk with all the teams all the time. I feel an important event like the first war (afawk) merits mentioning.

                              • I was thinking that we can mention the war once we get our horses back. Also, they didn't confirm (or deny) they'd give us Ivory, so I'd rather stay low-key for now. After all, the horse has already bolted on this one!
