That is a very nice offer. It makes their claim of an over-eager turnplayer much more believable. And it looks like they care a lot about their reputation and/or good relations with us. This also explains delay in their response time: agreeing on this kind of compensation probably took them a few days.

It's not too god if you consider the value of their reputation. Whiplash has played in demogames before, so he understands the danger of being labelled untrustworthy early on. It might also indicate that their relations with Imperio and Templars aren't as good as we had thought.

Thanks for the recentb emails regarding the Code of Laws-Monarchy deal. We were obviously very concerned when we saw that your team had traded in Monarchy from Imperio. We are happy with the compensation swap of Monotheism for CoL, and we're willing to consider further deals requiring co-ordinated research.

We have already completed Montheism, so would you like it straight away, or should we wait until you've completed Code of Laws?

I have taken over from Whiplash as envoy to Realms Beyond. Please address all future communication to me and I’ll feed it back to PAL.

Just to clarify, we did trade Monarchy with Imperio, but this has no bearing on the deal we struck with you guys. The Original deal still stands, so as soon you have monotheism we will happily hand over code of laws. Roughly how long until monotheism?

Anyway, lets look to the future … What are you guys planning on researching after monotheism? It might be a good idea for one of us to start perusing the bottom half of the tech tree; Metal Casting or Feudalism.

Regarding the tech situation, I'd propose to waffle slightly on our plans: 'we need Monarchy and we're trying to make a deal with Imperio, but they don't move very quickly'.

As to the bottom of the tree, I'd propose that they go for MC cos they're IND and get a big benefit from cheap forges.

I think the last paragraph of your email should simply state that we will trade it as soon as they get code of laws and ask when they estimate that be. I don't think we want to be handing over monotheism with nothing in return.

I'm not sure what we should tell them regarding what we want to research next. Should we inform them that we are persuing aesthetics and literature?

I wouldn't tell them about Aesth and Lit. Add some waffle about their trade throwing our team into a tech discussion (do we tech Mon or trade for it, if we trade, what do we tech) so that our current plans aren't fixed.

Share with them the knowledge of Imp and Maths - and our fear that they are going for a Civil Service / Oracle sling?

We were the ones confused about the trade as we got the beaker values the wrong way around...

That agreed trade was Monarchy & Mono from us vs. CoL from PAL.

I don't see any reason for us offering them Monotheism now if they have not researched CoL.
