What PAL is asking is free use of Aestetics for at least 8 turns until they research CS. Why should we give it to them?

I suggest sedning an email to that effect: "We like the trade proposed if it happens in a single turn, but giving you two wonder techs before you even research the tech we are supposed to be trading for looks like a pretty bad deal."

How about agreeing to the trade but proposing to give them Aesthetics 1 turn before they have CS to allow the CS for Drama & Lit trade on the following turn? We can explain that though we realize PAL is 'under new management', it doesn't change the fact that we were lied to in order to get Horses for your war against Rabbits, and the mood in the team is not in favour of large, upfront tech payments.

That sounds better. We still need to decide on the "other tech". I think drama would be OK for us. How about we research monarchy after literature, then drama. If we like we could add an addendum to the trade that they would agree not to go after the GA from music.

Swiss' suggestion sounds good. Either way, we need to send them something about agreeing in principle, but having internal discussion about details.

Swiss' suggestion is ok. But don't mention the "lie" regarding the horses. We should keep that behind for future deals.

I would also like to ask them if they would consider lifting the no - scout clause. It does not hurt to ask, and a line of sight inot their cities is sooooo valuable!

@Dreylin - I'm fine with giving Egypt HBR - horse archers are worse than war chariots hammer-for-hammer.

In light of the above discussion, I would agree to the trade, inform them that due to a variety of reasons RB's consensus is to not preform the trades until CS is available, and let them know we may substitute Drama for another tech and will inform them if we plan to. I see no reason to specifically mention anyone lying or anything about wonders.

This is a good trade offer (CS for Aesth / Lit / Drama?). Team RBs first reaction is YES but we are currently researching other options for some of the techs you suggested that we don't currently have. Some of these options might change depending on what happens in-game and / or your tech preferences / feedback.

Also, we would like permission to send our scout (not our warrior!) through your lands to the South. We promise to take the most direct route and to not share any information that we may find with other teams. Please let us know if this is acceptable.

This sounds fine Ruff. Perhaps PAL will come back with "can you send us Aesthetics now," and if so we can clarify the timing. I think your email moves things along fine however.

hiya RB,

i have posted your response in our forums. i am authorize to accept
the tech trade, but i am going to get a response from the team on the
"sending the scout directly through."

incidentally, we granted the same scout thing to rabbits while we
stayed out of their lands, and later they returned the favor by
sending a stack into a forest hill in our land. i'll see what the team
says. we cannot even see where your civ is on the map. info on that
might be nice?

PAL propsed trading on the turn they discover CS, but asked for Aesthetics now; how about we counter-propose this:

Turn X-5 - we give them Aesth
Turn X - CS Trade for Lit
Turn X+5 - we give them Drama

(using 5 as a nominal number). That way, both teams have beakers "in the bank" for an equivalent period, and it gives us time to research Maths to get CS, and then Drama for the other half of the trade.

I like this. I'll include it in our next email to PAL.
