But I am on the case with your request!
        Fair enough!
I take that as if you release it first, then I may use them then..
Many thanks for working on my request.

Enough of the threadjacking. The cities for Red Front looks great. Some of the best cities I've ever seen.

Winter versions will follow when I have the full roster of summer cities made.

            • Curt you are a wizzard with layers!! Its good to see the full colour potential of Civ II finally being realized. Yet, I have to ask you a question my friend. If the Civ II source code was aquired or somehow cracked, and the full colour pallet, expanded unit slots and events could be added to MGE, would you consider making this an MGE scenario?

I realize that is one hell of an "if" question, but I'd like to think that one day somehow we'll be able to fix those flaws with MGE.

                • @Sarsstock:

Without going off topic too much -
ToT has many other benefits, as well as graphics.
It is the natural fate for a scenario maker to move
to the version that gives him the most options.

That's all I am saying before Fairline shoots me down for spamming his thread!

cities as soon as I complete the tricky Scandanavian set.

What you're talking about here Sarsstock is upgrading MGE to ToT

The whole purpose of this project is a conversion of RF to ToT in order to take advantage of the very qualities you have listed. At some point I may make up MGE versions of the graphics files, but they will inevitably be inferior in quality due to the 8-bit palette and reduced height unit slots.

Do you have ToT BTW Chris?

                      • The only reason I prefer MGE to ToT is that I think MGE has a better feel to it. I have tried to play ToT scenarios on several different occasions an it just feels slow to me. That and it's lack of utilities.

                        • Yes Fairline I do indeed have ToT, but I suppose MGE just feels more familiar to me as I've been playing it for nine years this Christmas. More than any game on any platform.

Anyways, about that title.gif I offered to produce for you guys. Are there any general themes you wanted me to consider using such as battlefield images or a red and black colour scheme? Or did you want to give me complete artistic leave on this one?

                          • Go for it Sarsstock, you always come up with something that's great, and thanks The only thought I had was one of those Soviet-era propaganda posters, if you know the ones I mean. I can have a hunt on google for some examples.

BTW, you know you can make ToT the map interface the same view as MGE? - (menu bar 'view---map layout'.) Similarly you can have the old civ2 city view ('view---city layout'). That should make you feel more at home with ToT I hope!

EDIT: here's a great site with the style of poster I mean:

Jimmy, you can speed up play using 'fast piece slde' in game options. Bit too fast for my taste though

                              • Okay, I too will fish around for some good pre-war era Soviet posters. Now, do you want the title to be "Red Front" or "Red Front Redux"?

Also, should I credit you using the name Fairline or your actual name? I've noticed some people like their actual names, some like their screen names only. Also, would you like me to credit the major contributors to the game, possibly Nemo for the original concept or only you as the scenario author?

P.S. Thanks for the advice on making ToT look like regular MGE.
