Early in the month a ball took place in the Senate House, representatives from other countries were invited to enjoy good music and great food, and diplomatic ties in many arenas were strengthened. Leader of the independents, Manuel Rossa himself, appeared with his lovely wife to enjoy the festivities.
Later, Senior Rossa walked to a nearby study to enjoy a cigar and found Seniora Rossa and our own Consul locked in a some what compromising (and complicated) pose, apparently inspired by the latest release of the "Kama Sutra".
Naturally tempers flared and fists flew, the consul received a bloodied nose and Senior Rossa a Black Eye. Then Senior Rossa retreated to Spain, with his wife, and vowed to crush the Consul. The consul was able to use this declaration to spur the military members to a "pre-emptive" strike to choke any invasion by the independents, and So on the last day of the month assembled forces landed outside Lisbon, and Ships began to lay siege to its shores. Consul Le Exceptional has declared his intention to occupy Madrid by mid fall, and to take Barcelona mid winter.

German coffers are bursting open following a successful month of trade. The tax windfall the government has received will be used in the future as down payments on infrastructure improvements.
