  • To: Chief Tarhe of the Wyandot
From: Numa Pompilius, King of Rome

Our warrior has made contact with the people of Mound City. He has filed a most favorable report of your people. We are delighted to encounter another bearer of the light of civilisation in the darkness of this untamed world.

We are certain that the people of Wyandot and Romans shall be good friends in the future. Currently our cities are too far from each other to contemplate trade but this may change in the future.

The first order of buissness for our two states is to agree on borders, we invite you to send a detailed proposal regarding the border.

    • Emperor Lee sent in 500,000 of his newly trained warriors to the sand village. Lee’s forces overwhelmed the sand ninja and forced them to retreat to their original hidden village. The city was completely deserted yet the buildings were still in good shape. So Lee sent workers to fix the city while a group of settlers where gathered to take the Sand village and turn it into a new city which will build his navy to become even bigger.

Now with the only major threat in Japan taken out Emperor Lee turned his focus on a letter that was received the day before. It was from one of the spies that were working in Oldonia. It told of an attack by Oldonian generals. Emperor Lee started to laugh out loud.
Lee was well aware that the Oldonian generals hated the fact that Japan was stronger. Those fools are playing right into my hands.

Emperor Lee then sent word to the White Lotus to find any Oldonian ship, destroy it, and make sure only one survives. Then he sent word to his forces just south of the Oldnian city to go in and destroy and roads, mines, or farms in the area then get out before the Oldonian army could respond. His plan was to anger the child know as the Oldonians and get them to come to Japan. Whether or not the Oldonians where stupid enough to take the bate was yet to be seen.

        • Emperor Lee made preparations to visit the new city he had conquered. He put on his armor and propped his hair up. He walked out the palace doors where his guards waited for him. All of them left together out towards the waiting army that was guarding the new settlers of the soon to be renamed sand village. Two by two the walk down the road to the awaiting passenger ships on the river. The journey was long and tiresome. After two days on the river they arrived at the port on the other side of the great mountain range. There they walked the remaining distance to the city. After a week of traveling they arrived at the city gates. Everything was perfect and built to be strong and last long. Emperor Lee was impressed by the work done by the workers. He walked to the center of the city and addressed the people. " This new city is now your home. Make it strong so it can be worthy enough to live up to it's new name Kaguya." The city was named after the new shogun Kimimaro Kaguya, a ninja from the hidden sound village who's special bloodline trait aloud him to use his own bones as weapons. With Kimimaro, Emperor Lee Know his newly acquired city would never fall or stray because Kimomaro was Lee's youngest son.

            • look there they are those damn Nips.

The soldeirs were gathered in the Great forrest and had been scouting the tracks of the Japanese for months now. Finally they had seen them. Not far south of Oldonia itself.

Now they awaited orders from the Generals. Did they attack first or wait to defend themselves.

They knew more troops were hurrying their way across the Great Moutains, but they were eager to get the glory themsleves.

A squad of archers was called forward to protect the axemen while they waited. a few more hundred metres and the Japanese would be within range.

quiet everyone, they seem to be making camp for the night

Actually, the Wyandot people are rather easy. We will accept the "Fat Cross" of Mound City plus 3 tiles.

There will then be a TRI border - between yourself, me, and Piercian Empire...Subject of course to the Piercian Empress's approval of course.

                    Greetings,

The Wyandot proposal can be agreed to, as long as it takes into consideration that a few tiles within a 3-tiles radius of Mound City's fat cross are already planned to be a part of the fat cross of a planned piercian settlement. A 2-tiles radius can still be maintained.

                        • Excerpts from the Captain's Log of the Royal Cartographic Ship, Fungolia:

The third week and fourth day of our voyage: We recently saw land, covered by a huge mass of Jungle, and as we had no tools with which to cut very deeply into the trees, we could only land in clearings at the water's edge. These have been sparse, but regular enough for us to be able to stop and replenish our supplies every few days. We did spot some natives climbing through the trees killing and eating the wildlife without care or preparation. Luckily, these savages obviously had no training, nor knowledge of boats, and we were able to hide out amongst some rocks and wait for them to pass. As soon as out gatherers return, we will leave. I shall have to order the First Mate to send a messenger back to London with the news of these savages, as soon as we stop over on our island's shores. I have no doubt our trained forces can handle them, but a warning is a logical precaution nonetheless.

The seventh week and sixth day of our voyage: After a brief stop-over to send a messenger back to London, we have followed the opposite land further along its coast and found evidence that this was the land that our ancestors left, so many generations ago. It apparently wraps around three sides of our island. We have nearly reached the place where our ancestors crossed, as evidenced by the sighting of the corresponding landmarks upon our own island. The lookout tells me there is a clean river not far along the coast, surrounded by what appears to be some very fertile land. We shall stop there briefly, and await the arrival of our messenger whom was sent to London, and was instructed to light a beacon when he reached the Ancestor's Crossing Point.
                          - Supplemental -
We have arrived at the river mouth, and have found supplies to be more than plentiful in this region. I have marked this location as a possible location for future expansion of the Funglish Dominion. It is just as well that we stopped here, as the scouts I sent ahead have reported the existence of a desert along the coast, as far as the eye can see. One can only hope that we have enough supplies to traverse it, since we will not be able to stop and resupply along the way. I am going to order that double stocks be collected, and order the entire crew to half rations until we know that fertile land is once again near. We shall set sail again in the morning, as the lookout has just announced the sighting of the messenger's beacon.

The twelfth week and first day of our voyage: The crew's spirits are low, very low. I fear a mutiny before long. The only reason we have kept for this long, is because if the discipline I keep, and the respect I have earned from the crew. Like the rest of the crew, I am now on quarter rations and starting to feel the effects. I cannot write any more; the lookout is calling for me.
                          - Supplemental -
It appears our prayers have been answered. The lookout has spotted evidence of people in the area. Even if these people are savage like the last lot we saw, there must be food around. Our careful rationing has meant that we have enough food for another week on quarter rations, but my scouts tell me that they think that there should be fertile land not more than 3 days away. I am going to order the crew back to half rations as a celebration.

The twelfth week and sixth day of our voyage: After the past few weeks of heavy rationing, it feels good to be putting on some weight again. Once we passed the desert, we made land at the first opportunity, and managed to catch some wild boar. A massive feast was prepared, and what little was left over has been served as the main meal for the past two days of sailing. The crew seem to think I must be some sort of god, or at least a great man among the lowliest of souls, but I believe that the triumph was theirs. They stuck to their discipline and were able to last the journey and stretch out beyond the furthest boundaries of the Funglish people. At some point during the desert leg, we rounded the coast, and left the safety of our fair island behind. Who knows what is to come?

The thirteenth week and third day of our voyage: The scouts have found and infiltrated a city. The guards of the city seem to allow unarmed people through without checking them except for obvious weapons. They will even hand back any swords when you leave. It would appear that the city is a place of worship for many peoples, who may make a pilgrimage to visit. Some parts of the city were more obviously locked away and kept private, but the gold invested in training the scouts to be discrete was not wasted. In their eagerness to find out more about the inhabitants, one of the scouts accidently bumped into an old man at the top of a tall flight of stone steps, causing him to slip and fall. This unfortunately resulted in the old man's death, but the scout was able to leave the area undetected. One piece of good news is that we found out the name of the people: They call themselves the 'Holy Roman Empire', and consider themselves the root of a religion called Christianity. There also appears to be a large contingent of people from a nation called the 'Metalheads'. Apparently, they were in town to negotiate a border agreement. The scouts report that these 'Metalheads' apparently speak in a familiar, yet different dialect similar to English (the language of the Funglish). Because of this similarity, the scouts were able gather quite a bit of information from the townsfolk. It would appear that the people we saw in the desert were apparently Metalhead explorers, although it is unknown if they saw our vessel sailing past.

The thirteenth week and fifth day of our voyage: I am ordering the scouts to pull out. One of them accidently revealed themselves to a Metalhead delegate, thankfully on friendly terms. During this scouting mission, the Fungolia has been moored off the tip of the peninsula, out of sight of anyone from the Holy Roman city. I have decided to make the trip back to our island and make my report in person. I am going to recommend that we approach both of these nations with peaceful intentions. They have the potential become very capable allies. In addition, now that we know the limits of the desert to the south of the Holy Roman city, we can gather adequate supplies. The return journey will be much less harsh.

The fifteenth week and third day of our voyage: We are nearly past the desert again. Once we reached sight of our own island, I ordered the crew to head straight for it, so that a messenger may be sent to herald our return. He also carried a preliminary report of what we had seen. The messenger has returned to us this morning, with instruction that we are to head to the Ancestor's Crossing Point, and await the arrival of a scouting party, whom we are to transport onto the mainland. Then we may return to London and attend the launching ceremony of our sister ship the RCS Britannia.
                          - Supplemental -
We have not yet arrived at the Ancestor's Crossing point, and we have already heard news of the scouting party's demise. It would appear that dangerous animals still prowl in the area. A new scouting party is being hurriedly trained in London, and will meet us at the same location. I can only hope that they will fare better than the last lot.

                          • Seoul...

The two monarchs sat accross from eachother, playing a traditional Korean game. Things had been going very well lately for the royals, despite the tension between them of course, and they had cause to be pleased with themselves. While Wang Geon felt that he was used by the princess (agreeing to create a monastery in Seoul for the monks of the Jogye mountains) he couldn't help but realize that this monastery would give him a good place in the hearts and minds of the people of Seoul. If he had to deal with the buddhists he might as well deal with them as a benefactor, not as an obstacle. For her part, the princess had become pregnant, and if it was a male she could carry out her plan. She hoped to create a dynasty that (at least partially) contained her bloodline, after that she would make moves to "replace" Wang Geon, she didn't respect him, in fact she hated him. Wang Geon realized this of course, but he was sure that this woman couldn't topple his regime, her father couldn't even do it.

"Your move" Wang Geon said "darling."

The Princess moved her piece, "there you are."

"Ahh, you ignored this!" Wang Geon replied, responding perfectly, the game was nearly over "You have to take your opponent's strategy into consideration as well, my beautiful flower."

The princess hated his arrogance "Of course, my lord."

Gang Jo and one of his advisors burst into the room.

"Ah, General Gang Jo, to what do I owe the pleasure of your interruption? I was just teaching the princess about tactics." Wang Geon said.

"I apologize sir," he looked over to Sinjeong "Princess. My lord, our scouts have spotted two armies, both arriving from the northwestern jungles. One is headed here, the other towards Pyongyang."

"Armies? Who are they?" Wang Geon said, rising from his seat, he looked to the princess, she simply shrugged her shoulders.

"We aren't sure sir, they look similar to the Maya, but they aren't Mayan at all sir, perhaps these are the Aztecs we were warned about." Gang Jo replied.

"Well, are we prepared for this?" Wang Geon asked.

"I believe so sir, General Shin Sung sent me a message, here..."

                            My Supreme King,

It is with great urgency that I inform you of an invading army. We believe they are Aztecs from the northern jungles, we are not sure if the Mayan Holkan that passed north of Pyongyang engaged them, but if they have not we may need their assistance. These soldiers are using bronze weaponry, something our military has been lacking, and there is no time to arm our men with these weapons as our mines were just completed. I write to inform you that another army is headed towards Seoul, but they are nowhere near as well-armed as the army threatening Pyongyang, and your men should be able to rebuff them handily.

I ask your permission to engage the enemy, we may be able to counter their technological advantage by taking positions on the hills outside of Pyongyang, however this would leave the city itself unprotected (we believe the entire garrison would be necessary to destroy these scoundrels).

Unfortunately the bad news continues; General Hong Yu has fallen. He was killed by an arrow to the back in a battle between two Greek armies, General Bae Hyeongyeong has returned and if there is any good news in this missive it is this; the Greeks have agreed to Bae's proposed borders. If you do not send instructions we will act accordingly. Good luck destroying these barbarian cur.

                            -General Shin Sung-
                            "...Well?" asked Gang Jo.

"Have you read this?" Wang Geon asked.

"I didn't read that specific letter, but I know what it says, what shall we do?"

The King sat back down "Let me think a moment." he looked up at the princess, he knew she wanted him to die, he knew she hoped he would go engage the Aztecs, "He said the army arriving here would be easy to destroy, I say we put up defenses here in Seoul."

"What of Pyongyang sir?" Gang Jo asked "That is our powerbase, should they engage the barbarians or await an attack?"

"That is the thing, if we take our armies to the hills we'll have a tactical advantage, but remaining in the city would give us better defenses." Wang Geon thought.

The princess rubbed her womb, this could turn out perfectly for her, if Pyongyang falls to the barbarians Wang Geon's authority would be severely diminished, his stranglehold over Seoul would be at an end, and she could ascend the throne with an heir on the way. It was a terrible thought, but she hoped in her mind that things would work out her way....

                            Meanwhile in Jogye...

Jinul was very old, and getting quite sick. He was bed-ridden and his mind was filled with visions of the Buddha. The monks of the village were saddened, Jinul had always given himself trouble and felt as a failure because he couldn't help Gung Ye, because he was too late to stop Pyongyang from seizing control of Seoul. Now he was too old to see the Monastery through. Subo was his apprentice, and cared for the old man, bringing him tea when he was too cold, and water from the Han river when he was too hot.

"What is going on in there?" Jigong asked one of the monks.

"It is Lama Jinul, I believe he is approaching his final hours in the flesh, he has been stricken with visions, and has taken to talking to imaginary figures." the monk replied, gazing through the window at his dying master....

"Jinul" Subo said, "Here, I brought you a pot of tea, can you hear me Jinul?"

                            "He is here Subo."

"Of course he is, I shall put this by your bed, you've got to sleep, your body wishes it so for you dream in the daylight." Subo said as he opened the teapot and poured someout for his master.

"He only wishes to help Jinul, do not fret, you have not failed, he will continue your mission, a new enlightened one has been sent."

"Who is he?" Jinul asked aloud.

"I don't know master, I can not see who you speak of" he said, waving the tea in front of Jinul's nose "Have some tea, it will help you." Subo replied.

"That is not for you to know, he is here in the mountains, he comes from humble origins, a mere fisherman."

Jinul sipped some of the tea, "What is his name Buddha?"

"I am not the Buddha Jinul, you are seeing things, you need your rest." Subo said.

"He can not see me Jinul, do not speak, simply listen. Your apprentice will find him, they will help to enlighten the world. Now Jinul, we must go."

"No, no! I can not go yet, I must find him." Jinl said, quickly sitting up.

Subo looked to the window, where the other monks watched intently, he quickly embraced the Lama and gently laid him back down "Please master, please, you must sleep." Subo said, a lone tear falling from his eye.

"Come with me Jinul, listen to Subo, it is time to sleep..."

                            "....."

"Jinul" Subo said, lifting his head to look at his master "Jinul...." the monks began to turn around and leave the window, "...J-Jinul..."

                              • The Zanza guard walked through a great forest and reached a point on the bottom of a large mountainside. The Zanza guard spotted a group of Oldonian warriors on the top of the hill. They know the Oldonians already saw then and purposely acted like they didn’t know the Oldonians were watching. The Zanza guard set up camp to try to provoke courage into the hearts of the Oldonians. All that was needed was for one Japanese warrior to be killed so Japan could be free by law to completely kill off the Oldonian filth. But in typical fashion the Oldonian warriors ran off afraid of fighting the better and stronger Zanza Guard.
