Nacon
Nacon Declares War
Ancient Mayan text indicates that War Chief Nacon was the product of his mother and a Jaguar. This accounted for his prowess on the battlefield and fearlessness even against overwhelming odds.
Attempting to mate with a Jaguar was somewhat commonplace in Mayan culture until 500 BC. Most attempts ended in the woman being consumed, however those who were successful were assured a boy, and that he would become a powerful warrior.
Nacon grew into the most powerful Mayan warrior ever.
When Pacal II ascended the throne, he realized that the wars with the Koreans were unorganized affairs fueled by mysticism and fear. Only by judging others objectively and with a military mind could the proper actions be taken.
It is for this reason that very soon after taking control of the Mayans Pacal II appointed his childhood friend Nacon to the position of "War Chief".
The War Chief was granted complete control of the military, and his actions could only be challenged by the king himself. The War Chief's sole job was to assess foreign threats, and deal with them.
It is no surprise that given this capacity, War Chief Nacon declared war on the Aztecs immediately.
