    • Morgan Freeman would be great.

Patrick Stewart would be great, to stick with the trekkie theme

But I'm kind of partial to Peter Coyote, American actor who's done a *lot* of voiceover work in documentaries. I'd go with Peter Coyote.

Now that I think about it a bit more, David Attenborough would be great, too.

      • Have Sid (or other Firaxis lackeys and or fan) do the voice work and spend the million or two dollars saved on more beta testing and polish.
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

                  • I can just imagine William Shatner. "Beep........BeepBeep?" Ugh.

I would vote for someone different every few techs. That also adds the plus that if they add new techs in an expansion (which they will) they can just use Sid or any random voice over person and it wouldn't be a jarring. Keep Nimoy for either pig iron or sputnik tho, that was classic...

                      • A lot of great choices, but I see something no one else suggested on this old, old thread:

Rather than recording quotes anew, how about taking quotes from movies and recordings? Probably a copyright nightmare, but with some effort, you could come up with classic quotes for everything, I'd bet.

"Fire...baaaad!" said by Boris Karloff. You'd have to make fire researchable just to use this.

"Yeee-haaw" said by Slim Pickens riding a nuke in Strangelove.

"What have the Romans ever done for us?"
                        "The aqueduct"?
                        from "Life of Brian"

                        It'd be fun.

'ccourse, I like these other suggestions, especially the late Hitchhiker's Guide guy and the late Dungeon Keeper guy.

Brian Blessed? Wasn't he the leader of the hawk-people in Flash Gordon?

                        • You could do the whole thing with Frank Welker, Maurice Le Marche, Tress MacNeille and Billy West, too. They might not be cheap, though.

Lol, he was. That was one of his lesser roles. He's famous for his deep, booming voice.
