    • Having eliminated the leader concern, I want to put in the last word on new civs. According to civ precedent, the only former civ game civs not in Civ4 after Warlords are:

      (Austrians) - don't really count
      Babylonians
      Byzantines
      Dutch
      Hittites
      Iroquois/Sioux
      Mayans
      Portuguese
      Sumerians

I would imagine that Firaxis will choose from this list, though many of us would like to see some newbies, such as the Hebrews, Khmer/Thai, Assyrians or Ethiopians.

What do you, at least those of you who care about civs, prefer? (As it stands, Civ4 will only have 3 more civs than Civ2, not including the latter's unfinished Arabs or Incas).

        What about New Zealand?

        They'd have Super Praetorians!

Seriously though Kmer would be very cool!
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

fighters should gain experience most definately. Ace would be one such promotion.

All units should earn XP in some fashion.

Upgrades for workers would be interesting.

            • Fighters should be generally more useful...

I wish bombarding could actually kill units, and such.
I know they upgraded it, but it's still not as useful as in real-life.

All air units ought to be more useful. The AI never seems to use them at all, which makes bunkers and SAM infantry virtually useless. All I do with air support is use it to destroy the enemy's defense rating.

                • So now that Warlords is out, we should see what else should be added to it in order to perfect Civ. Let's not have a repeat of C3C, where the expansion took away from the whole. Perhaps if we try hard enough, it'll make a difference.

                  • Well it would be nice to get chance to get a feel for the Warlords changes first.

                    • WHAT!! Accept the world for what it is? Give in to stagnation? You can't be serious.

Hey, if it's been released to the general public it's too old for us. We make the bleeding edge look old! I myself am about to start a thread on what changes to make to Civ VI (Civ V is actually being worked on and therefore too old for us to consider).

Next up: How to improve Teleportation devices!

Don't count on it. They won't be working on a new game until all the possibilities for expansions for IV have been exhausted. And with Warlords coming out so early, I'm guessing we'll be seeing 3 XPs in total.

Plus in an interview awhile back, Sid mentioned that he planned on giving Civilization a break after this, at least for awhile. He wants to concentrate on other things for a change instead of continuing to rehash the same game they've been working on for so many years. Mind you, Take 2 might have something to say about that.

If you have any wishes, now is the time to make them (actually you'd be running late if you haven't already). You can rest assured that the design stage of the next project (in this case XP2) starts before the previous project (in this case Warlords) is done. Big decisions on what direction to take, what major features to include and what civs/leaders to add may already have been taken (the fact that alexman a while ago held a poll on what type of leaders to use proves they were figuring out what civs/leaders to include back then).

If you wait 3 months until you're familiar with Warlords you can rest assured that nothing but small and easy-to-implement ideas that fit in with the rest of the design are going to make it into the next XP, no matter how popular they may be or how much Firaxis may like them. I know it's hard to propose ideas for XP2 when you don't even know what XP1 is like, but that's life...

And no, I think you can safely assume that they're not working on Civ5 quite yet, though by the time XP2 is getting close to release it might be wise to have a close look at statements by Firaxians to see whether you should start making suggestions for XP3 or Civ5 (And I tend to agree with Willem that we already got a big clue on that, inconclusive as that is.)

                          • Um, satire.

And, for those of you listening, I want more democracy. And viable democracy (don't just show me a list of things the AI won't do, ever).

                            And put "Abandon City" back.

I suppose that is quite possible. I do think that Civ4 has more replayability potential than Civ3 did. And with a relatively small amount of stuff in Warlords(at least compared to Play the World's improvements on Civ3), I could see a further 2 expansions for it. They're going to drain every drop.

My wish right now is that they don't release another x-pack, though I'm sure this wish will not be fulfilled.

And if Warlords bucks the trend and is actually a good Civ x-pack maybe I'll change my mind anyway.
