Ok - it looks like my system *should* be able to handle this, and the initial player reactions look good.

Now I just need a decent sale price. I refuse to spend $50 on a game.

Edit: Now I'm not so sure - looks like some "low end" Radeon folks are having problems running the game (I have a 9600 XT). Guess I'll wait and see....

Another edit: Ok - it looks like the XT cards should work; it's the earlier 9600 cards that are having problems.

Looks like I'll definitely get this, though taking time from Nightfall will be painful right now.

I have been away with work the last couple of days so haven't kept up with the forum gossip. Post a review asap.

Not a review (yet), just first impressions:

The good: D&D 3.5 rules seem to be much better balanced (from what I can see as measly level 3), and remove some hassle. So is, for instance, for two weapons fighting only 1 feat necessary now, instead of 2. Buffs like bulls strength etc. don't give 1+1d4 anymore, but a constant +4 (good!), that makes them more predictable. A plethora of new races with different +/- stats and abilities makes powergaming a pleasure... erm... not for a roleplayer like me, of course! And there are a lot of new, exciting prestige classes.

The bad: The interface is sluggish, camera movement a pain in the butt. Although there are a lot of slots (not 3 x 12 like in NWN1, but 10 x 12 from what I can see), they seem not to work as convenient. In NWN1 I could drag 2 weapons or a weapon and a shield in one slot and with 1 keystroke I had the new set equipped. This feature I am missing so far (I hope I just didn't find it yet). Also: The game seems to need a state of the art computer. Which I do have, but many may not.

The ugly: Right after tutorial, I had my first crash to desktop.

Oh... and I'm playing a cleric as my first character. I may try out the new battle priest prestige class. Not because I think it's teh leet, but just to try it out.

Do you have an ATI or an Nvidia card? Since its an OpenGL game, it seems Nvidia cards do better.

It has an average of 84 so far.

It would be higher if it wasn't for the 1up and Game informer reviews. The 1up reviewer gave it a 50/100 because he's basically sick and tired of D&D based games.

Game informer reviewer gave it a 80/100. But I don't understand why he gave it only 80. If you read the actual review, it sounds more like a 90.

I don't know. Reminds me of when Civ4 came out and had all those ATI issues. I think a lot of the posts are just crap.

I have a nVidia 7800 GTX card, and it works fine in all other games I play (a lot as I can assure you)

I can't get past the place where it crashes. I played like 5 times and it crashed everytime.

I deinstalled the game and am reinstalling the English version (had installed it in German). Perhaps that helps.

I'll probably get it, but given I'm playing Nightfall right now I can wait for it to be properly patched.
