Unless you're going to have a game with a few dozen distinct weapon skills, which would be horribly boring and munchkinistic, an Axe is far closer to a mace or even more so a hammer, than a sword.

You use very similar skills in wielding them; both require great arm and pectoral strength, and generally are swung in a similar manner. They're both very heavy, weighted toward the far end. You primarily use your strength and their weight to do your damage; the blade-caused damage of an axe is a bonus, and for thinner targets certainly has a different effect than that of a hammer (thus the different weapon...), for most targets they are very similar in use. Therefore, an axe is treated as a blunt weapon for weapon skill purposes.

And daggers are cool. (Though not as cool as a dai-katana... or the coolest blade ever, the Ebony Blade, which i was lucky enough to find in my first game and somehow managed not to lose the entire game ...

wow, I didn't think it would be released on time.

I should get a new computer, mine has been having problems (last time I buy a used computer). But I think it has a couple years left in it. I need to get a new video card and some ram, and this game should play decently.

I still have the VVardenfell poster on my wall, every time I look at it, I want to play Morrowind. I'm tempted to reinstall the game, because I can't wait that long.

Dosnt sound that great on reviews ive read, such as guard having xray vision and other such anti-thief nonsense. then again i like a totaly pro-outlaw game...i want guards and stuff, but i want to be caught because i was seen near the house near the time of the crime, reported in, and several days later-by following FACTS-i am determined to be a criminal.

also the same leveling system is in, probably will cheat as normal so i can actually play the RPG without levels getting in the way.
if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''

Its the only thing I'm disappointed with so far... The you-have-to-use-your-skill-to-improve-it leveling system sucks IMO. Its more realistic, but it ain't fun.

The biggest problem with it (to my mind) is that some skills make you level up whilst others don't. So for some characters, stabbing a million animals with a dagger will get you to the next level but to get stats updated by 5-5-1 or 5-5-5 you need to do miscellaneous skills as well. Miscellaneous skills shouldn't be more important than major and minor skills. As such, levelling without training is quite difficult if you intend to get bonuses every time you do level.

Of course, on in another way that kind of thing appeals to me. My current Morrowind character is level 35, has gotten 5-5-1 bonuses every time (I like luck) and has not gotten any skills through training or through reading books. I've maxed out 4 attributes with the other 3 due to be done in the next 3 levels, yet I've only maxed out 2 skills.

But in order to have such bonuses, you have to be anal retentive enough to do mind-boggingly boring stuff over and over again. Jump around, jump, jump, jump! Swim in circles or sneak around for 1 hour straight. Definitively not fun. Maybe there's a way to play the game without doing all that kind of crap and still have a decent character. I don't know.

                    • And you have to do specific skills only. Running a large amount doesn't help if you are upping attributes other than speed for instance. Twould be better if all skills were useful when levelling up, so that running a lot helped speed even if you also used skills that increased other attributes. With the current system, gaining in skills other than two/three specific types is a complete waste.

It would be better if they scrapped the whole learn by doing system and replace it with something better. It sucks and I can't imagine how they could possibly fix it.

                          • It sounds like the last game - i.e quite boring.

Still, early days, let's wait and see.
