But in order to have such bonuses, you have to be anal retentive enough to do mind-boggingly boring stuff over and over again. Jump around, jump, jump, jump! Swim in circles or sneak around for 1 hour straight. Definitively not fun. Maybe there's a way to play the game without doing all that kind of crap and still have a decent character. I don't know.

Btw, why did you pay an extra 20$ for a fake gold coin?
$10. The PC version is $59.99. And I want that Pocket Guide to the Empire . I play games to get immersed in them. I love little histories and whatnot.
edit: What'd ya know... the standard XBox360 version costs the same as the Collector's PC version

FWIW... I never did the jump, jump, jump, or just swimming around. I leveled up doing whatever I was doing. If I swam, it was to find out if there was anything I missed.

So you don't give a rat's ass about the bonuses? Maybe I should do that and just enjoy the game, without using the exploits. I'll resume my current Morrowind campaign with these words of wisdom in mind.

I never gave a rats ass about the bonuses until I learned how they worked. Then I became obsessive about them. I'd go and steal glass armour to sell just so I can train up the right skills to get 2 X5 bonuses (I used the last point for luck- I didn't realize at first how important luck is in this game). Because of that, my first time through the game was still my favourite.
I'm going to make a point to cherish my first run through the new game. I will not look at any strat guides, and probably won't look at the elder scrolls threads here.

Yep.. I don't care about bonuses . What comes will come. And, if you do the exploits, you find that your character becomes uberpowerful way too quickly. If you just play normally, the game doesn't become a walkover within a few hours.
And it's more fun (IMO) .
I realize that some people can't resist exploits, but I always play the way that was more fun to me. If that meant forgetting the exploits, then that's what it meant.
Though I guess the second time through (or whatever), going for bonuses and trying to get an uber character can be fun. But I'd imagine that after you get there, it stops being fun.

But one of the problems with Morrowind was, you didn't have to do exploits to get an uber character. With my first MW character, I did no exploits, but I just did what seemed the best things to do strategically, and I was uber far too quick.
I just hope Oblivion improves the balance a bit. I know you can't balance a completely open-ended game, but I just want it to be a bit more balanced - such as having any kickass magical artificats guarded by the Daedra, not just lying randomly around.

I was uber in the normal game. But I felt the expansions really upped the difficulty adequately. Werewolves just rip me apart (if I'm taking on several at once). And even those goblins in the sewers were tough when taking on a few at a time.

I felt it took me a decent deal longer when not powergaming. But maybe that was just me.

I like to level skills while on quests to the middle of nowhere. Casting spells gives me something to do while just going questing, and questing gives me something to do while levelling my spell skills. Other skills are harder to level while moving though.
Sure, by that time battles aren't really a challenge for me, but there is enough to do in the game that risking death doesn't need to be one of them.

I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

word!!!
Spending hours on raising your stats spoils a game. Simply do whatever you want to do and eventually you'll get pretty skilled at it!
"An archaeologist is the best husband a women can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her." - Agatha Christie
"Non mortem timemus, sed cogitationem mortis." - Seneca
Like i said i just used cheats to power my character up, then i could finnaly do a RPG and just use whatever weapons looked cool, etc
If i can ever play elderscrolls(when i get a puter that good) i will do the same.
if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

But sometimes you want to do something, but you're not skilled enough to do it properly. For example, my current character was always encumbered (a pain in the ass), he was real slow (again, a pain in the ass) and his people skills were too low. I couldn't naturally persuade anybody of anything. So I targetted those skills and their governing attributes.
