  • Maquiladora, sure it's possible. I've made more before in large regions. Basically, I could just zone up everything and not worry about demand ever dropping off for anything but the most wealthy residents, which I didn't care for any way. Check out my income/expense and funds graphs - no unnatural jumps.

Jonny, . I figured the region could use a poor 'hood, because you guys have waaay too many rich folks. With the poor folks from Fairview providing vital services that educated people would rather not do, you can fit more of them in.

Lemmy, . Sorry... I had hoped I wouldn't mess up the edges for anyone.

Ludd, . I'm evil, yes, though I can't claim full credit for this, as I wasn't aware elevation had any effect on the spread of pollution. Now all this dirt in the air suddenly makes sense.

I dont know why our power deal was cut, i certainly didnt run out of power, 5 or 6k spare at that time... but now im converting to solar so i dont have any to spare.

I hadnt checked your city at the time so i was wondering WHY would anyone want to do that to a city... but it looks like it will take care of the high demand for cheap housing around me.

                • That was fun... my primary webspace is down for the moment (nameserver issues) so I had to muck around and upload to the webspace I have on my school's server... 3 bluescreens later, I make this update:

                  Residential: 124,385
                  Commercial: 37,955
                  Industrial: 6091

Continued massive residential and commercial growth while industrial stagnates.

City planning is considering re-zoning Manufacturing Mountain into another commercial district.

                    • My demand is all over the place. I can understand the Industrial, companies don't appreciate 20% taxes, but the commercial demand is surprising. Is anyone else experiencing this?

                      • Commercial was overdeveloped insanely last turn. I had it too.

I added lots of residential this turn; if you download mine before playing yours, it may help moderate your problems. (I'm uploading it in a few minutes, BTW)

                        • Blountberg Year 35:

The subway infrastructure in downtown, River South, and the Blount Works was greatly improved, allowing for hi-density development in the River South area without much improvements needed to surface transport networks (although 1 road was widened to an avenue). Population again increased by almost 30,000 people, just as in the 5 years before these.

Many of the new residents commute to Bubble Junction to work via railroad (more than 7,000 daily commuters).

                            • Okay, so I have been offered to build the Opera House. While I was looking for mods on simtropolis before we started, I ran accross a fix for the Opera House. So clearly something is wrong, is it serious? Since we are not using the fix should I not build the Opera House?

                              • East Central 2035

A speculative bubble burst in the regional office market, leading to a crash in demand and an emptying out of dozens of office towers throughout downtown.

This caused havoc on the current five-year-plan to transform East Central from a series of commuter towns to a real downtown. Although the very well educated and healthy population was moving rapidly into the middle class range, the lack of jobs in town meant continued long commutes, now by subway, into neighboring Blountberg and Bubble Junction.

To facilitate this (I'm not sure if this is becoming self-defeating...) transit infrastructure was upgraded. The Blountberg lines and the Bubble lines of the subway system were connected.

At the intersection of these two subways and the existing rail network, a sleepy row of shops ballooned into Hemp Junction, the latest place in town for shopping. This model will be copied in the next Five Year Plan to bring more jobs into town.
