Ill need to add a port in Windydown i think, will need to hike taxes even more to pay for it. Thatll be my next job then ill start another region at the top coast next to Windydown.

    • Meanwhile, a clocktower has been erected in one of the older neighborhoods. By now, half the city's population has moved up into the middle class.

The city is still unattractive to office workers and the rich, however, but that doesn't matter, for the future plan of East Central is the Nerd Paradise. Local Neighborhood Overlords report that technology infrastructure is almost halfway there to space conquest.

      • Ferries added in Port Dimgulch and Windydown so both have ferry routes to Trinity Islands, plus some small development in Windydown, may do more along the beach but thats about it.

        • Something I wondered about - do you people get revenue from utilities and ports in SC4?

          • You get a lot from busy mass transit and road tolls but none from utilities i think.

            • Yes, utilities are pure expense. Industrial ports don't bring you money, either.

Only toll booths, bus/sub/train stations, parking lots, and ferry ports give you money.

              • This is unrealistic - either ports should be profitable, or cost nothing - same with utilities.

                • Ultimately SC4 comes down to designing for looks (good or bad) and/or good transit systems, the rest is fluff, like budgeting is way too easy, you can get away with NO fire/police coverage in one area, but when you slightly underfund a COVERED area they complain like hell.

                  • Yeah, I guess, I but I never liked that in a game. I'd rather have something like SC, Capitalism, and Transport Tycoon rolled into one. If you're familiar with Capitalism 2, for example, just imagine it with zoning, and realistic transport, including the economics of it. I don't think you can or should really take these things apart, and to be honest, I'd enjoy designing a city under these terms much better.

                      • Getting to the 25,000 high tech jobs was no easy task. Industry takes up incredible amounts of space, even high tech industry.

To get the last 2,000 jobs I had to bulldoze housing and stores for industrial zones.

                        • Additional Ground Based Mind Control Lazors however have placated the population of the latest policies. Population has surged up to almost 200,000, half mid income, half low income, and a tiny fraction upper class.

                          -----------------------------------

                          Future plans:

-Replace most of that high tech industry for other denser uses.

-Move towards a subway-only transportation network to cut air pollution.

-Expand office business - with the growing middle class, commercial office demand is finally positive!

The transportation system was expanded, and the commercial districts were expanded. Epwood is still in an economic slump with only substantial demand in the low-income residential.
