I'm not saying Riley is a bad coach. But there is simply zero evidence that he would do any better than Pelini did at Nebraska. Perhaps firing Bo was for many other reasons (such as his embarrassing sideline behavior), but if it was primarily about their record, then the Riley hire does not seem like an improvement.

Word. I think it actually was Pelini's behavior that got him fired, however. The poisonous relationship between Eichorst (Nebraska's AD) and Pelini has come out since the firing, and Riley seems to have been hired in large part because he's one of the nicest guys in football. The deluded section of the fanbase may demand that Riley best Pelini's record, but I'm not sure the AD cares as long as Riley does nearly as well in a classy way.

I agree, the Big 12 screwed itself in many ways. If your slogan is "One True Champion," but then you don't name one champion, and overtly state you're not going to name one champion because you want the committee to deal with it... that's just inviting what happened. It was completely stupid.

They should have just stated that Baylor was the champion and given the committee a real dilemma over the #4 slot. Then they could at least have a case for being wronged in being left out of the playoffs. The way it happened, the Big 12 doesn't even get that. The conference just has to accept that it shot itself in the foot.

For those that care, my local college just won the Div III NCAA national Championship for the 2nd time in a row and 5 of the last 6. They currently have the longest winning streak in college football. Go UW-Warhawks!

The problem is that Baylor isn't the best team. If they wanted to do that, they would put TCU in.

ISU (Illinois State) beat the #1 ranked New Hampshire Saturday to advance to the finals of the 2014 FCS tournament - first time in their history. They get to play the team they tied with for the MVC crown, #2 ranked North Dakota State, who for some reason they didn't play during regular season. Looking forward to watching that game on Jan. 10th. It will be difficult as NDS going for fourth straight championship. GO REDBIRDS!!
