Yeah, but they are literally the only good east coast basketball team. All the other sports have multiple good teams.

      • Josh Freeman really should be competing for a starting job somewhere, not competing for the backup job to a two-time SB winning franchise QB.

        • I agree. He should have the Jets job.

            MOST-COVERED TEAMS BY SPORT (2012)
Miami Heat (NBA): 962.75 minutes (5.5%)
New York Yankees (MLB): 410.25 (2.4%)
New York Giants (NFL): 362.75 (2.1%)
Of course that article was written about the Sportcenters in 2012... the year that the New York Giants won the Superbowl, the Miami Heat won the NBA Championship, and the New York Yankees were in the AL Championship Game (though lets be honest, the Yankees are going to lead MLB time if they make the playoffs - but that's unique to the Yankees).

            • Bill Barnwell puts the Lions' futility in perspective

It depends on how you define “the worst,” but you can make a pretty strong case. In terms of playoff incompetence, it’s hard to sink lower than Detroit has in the modern era. The Lions were a football dynasty during the Bobby Layne era, winning three titles between 1952 and 1957, but they’ve been wretched since dealing Layne away during the 1958 season. They’re 1-10 in playoff games since — no, that’s not a typo — having lost by an average of more than 13 points per contest. To put that in perspective: Mark Sanchez has as many playoff wins over Peyton Manning as the Lions do over all of football in the last 55 years.

                      Lots of things.

                      1) Mobile backup for Russell Wilson now that Tarvaris Jackson is surprisingly getting a little long in the tooth (yesterday was his 31st birthday; he was drafted at age 23 for anyone wondering how he's so old)
                      2) Gimmick plays
                      3) Deprive the 49ers who were interested in him
                      4) Be Colin Kaepernick in practice
                      5) Be useful when the Seahawks play against the AFC West this year

Not bad for a 7th round pick and a $705K salary.

                        • Yeah... When I saw that, all I could think was, they better have had a discussion with Wilson and made some promises, or they should be prepared to pay through their nose when it's time for his next contract.

                          • That's happening regardless; he won the Super Bowl. He will get his payday. Wilson understands that; Seattle does, too. But in the meantime, he's locked in and gets the benefit of being on the team with the NFL's highest non-QB salary structure.

And they still give him one of the worst WR corps in the league now minus his #1 WR (Golden Tate) who went to the Lions. Can you imagine if Wilson had an AJ Green to throw to (or if Percy Harvin actually played) instead of undrafted FA's like Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse? Lost in the success is the fact that the Seahawks WR's rival the Jets WR's in mediocrity.
