Come on, that's not fair. There were no last minute, game deciding interceptions. They just got beat by a superior team.

        • Just like last year, the defense is beat to hell. At some point, Jerry has to draft depth, like quality DL.

          • Dude, I'll put the Bears defensive injuries up against Dallas' this year. Missing Tillman, Briggs, Melton, DJ Williams, about 3 more defensive tackles... it's been brutal. The rushing totals have been downright scary - over 6 yd/carry the past 5-6 weeks. (Thanks for Jay/Jeremiah Ratliff BTW... He actually starts on this defense.)

On offense, Romo's passing statistics tell me he was not himself tonight - whenther via game plan, injury, or aversion to the cold.

Tonight surprised me. The Bears just lost to (sub-.500) St. Louis and Minnesota, so I figured Dallas would rip them apart. Instead, the Bears are just one more Detroit implosion away from first place. Crazy.

              • I can't remember a game by the Bears where they scored on every possession! I think it would have been closer if Dallas had stuck to the run, but they kept going away from it. They scored every time they ran more than they passed. I agree with JR - the Bears are a schizo team.

                  • I'm a little confused. I thought this Chicago Bears defense is terrible and injury-plagued? I could have sworn this D made Kellen Clemens and Matt Cassel look competent the past two weeks. How come Romo could only complete 11 passes and throw for only 104 yards? There's going to be a lot of blaming the defense when this offense put up only 14 points until garbage time against the same D that Kellen Clemens, Benny Cunningham, and Jared Cook gashed on the way to 42 points two weeks ago.

And what of Josh McCown? He's turning into the (old) poor man's Nick Foles.

                    • I get so tired of having people lay the blame on Romo. It's difficult to score 50+ points every ****ing week.

I thought Romo, Dez, Austin, Witten, and Murray > Clemens, T. Austin, Cook, Cunningham, random warm body. Where's this hyped Dallas offense?

                          • Dallas should have just run the ball all night. They stopped running in the 2nd and 3rd quarter and STILL put up 200 rushing yards.

Their defense seems as bad as Chicago's. They couldn't stop anything - even in the first half when Lee was playing. Ware was almost invisible. And the Bears never punted or turned the ball over all night. When your opponent scores on every possession, it's pretty tough to win.

                            • Romo through comparatively few passes compared to their norm; but you're right, had the Cowboys run even more, they could have kept the ball out of the Bears hands.

                              • This game, Detroit vs. Baltimore, just got real interesting. Made me laugh.

Matt Elam calls Lions star Calvin Johnson 'pretty old'

Matt Elam is a rookie. As a rookie, he has a lot to learn about the NFL both on and off the field.
The Baltimore Ravens safety made a mistake Wednesday when asked about Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

The description of his Monday night opponent started out well.

"Big, fast, athletic, unstoppable, freak," Elam said of Johnson, per the Detroit Free Press.

Then the 22-year-old had a brain fart.

"He's pretty old, so I don't know how physical he'll be," Elam said. "He's a big guy, but he's older. I guess when they get older they're not going to be as physical, you know what I'm saying? We're going to have to be physical, make him uncomfortable."

Aside from being flat-out wrong -- Johnson is 28; even in the NFL, that isn't old -- Elam made the mistake of poking the Transformer.

Why? Why would any player say anything that could be construed as an insult to one of the NFL's best players?

The last time someone made headlines by talking about Johnson, it was Dez Bryant and his now infamous "I can do whatever (Calvin) can do" comment.

Johnson went off for 329 yards receiving that week.

Sure, Elam also complimented Johnson, saying the Ravens would double- and triple-team the receiver. But you can bet the only word that will be spread around the Lions' locker room this week is "old."
Baltimore Ravens safety Matt Elam was asked about defending Calvin Johnson. The rookie said Megatron is big and fast but also (inexplicably) called the wide receiver "pretty old."
