BREAKING: The Houston Texans relieved Gary Kubiak of his duties as head coach today. Wade Phillips will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

If you're going RB for ROY, Bernard is the only contender who actually played and contributed all season long (except wk1 iirc). Stacy, Lacey, and LeVeon all missed 3-6 games. Only Lacy is likely to rush for 1,000. Bernard will have over 50 catches and has 7 TDs. I like Stacy as a player, but he didn't get consistent playing time until the last few weeks - too little too late.

Overall, I still like Keenan at this point. RBs typically can jump in and produce, but WRs tend to be notorious for taking 2-3 years to become elite. Keenan is having a great rookie season. Five 100-yd games, should easily clear 1K total and 70+ catches.

We'll see. I can see Lacy, Stacy, Bernard and Allen all in the Convo. I like Allen, but I don't think he's done as much as Stacy has done. No knock on him. I love the dude, but ROY? I'm especially impressed at how well Stacy has done even though, as you said, his overall body of work isn't quite as impressive. That's no fault of his own. How many teams can you say had a starter at RB, lost one due to trade, lost the backup and ended up with a better run game? Bernard is in a timeshare and that will hurt. Allen has Rivers throwing to him. Lacy isn't the focus of the team, but who do the Rams have?

That's why I think Stacy should be ROY. He's earned the starting job. Whereas I don't think Keenan's quite up there as a WR1.

He wasn't having a bad season when he got shut down. Where was the D? Firing Kubiak is a mistake.

Remember, Dempsey's kick was tied three times (including 2011 and 2012) and I've personally seen several long FGs sail through with plenty to spare.
It's just a matter of time and opportunity.

Accuracy is a big part of kicking a FG. I know it had been tied recently and it may not take 43 years, but it's still an accomplishment.

I get that. But there are probably a half-dozen guys in the league right now who can put it through from 70.

Prater, Tucker, Walsh, Janikowski, Zuerlein... 65 yds-plus is just a matter of time.

No, it's not just a matter of time. If it was just time, Jason Hansen would have boot the record long ago. It's about the rare opportunities. The game situation has to be just right, and those conditions to even attempt a record breaker don't come around very often.

Yes, it is. The times, they are a-changin'. Just a few years ago, attempts of more than 50 yds were uncommon. Now, you see them almost every week. Kickoffs have been moved all the way back to the 35, yet there are more touchbacks than ever.

Legs are stronger. Technique is better. And significantly, coaches are more open to the possibility.

I understand that teams won't trot the kicker out every time they reach midfield; game situation clearly matters.

But it will happen.
