And again - they had the ball in the fourth quarter to tie after a missed FG early, and 4th and 1 on the 7. Rivers was clean, no INTs. Two TDs were dropped. *sigh*So yeah, not blown out in most losses. But... seems like SD absorbs a lot of self-inflicted wounds. Be glad they're 4-4 and in the hunt.
I'm not sure which way they'll go this season. They have the parts - they just can't get them to work together. Maybe they go on a run with backs to the wall? Maybe they finally fall apart for the first time in 8 years, since Schotty put them on the map in 2005? I don't know.
And blaming Rivers - the only reason this game was close was Rivers - they were down big in the second quarter when the defense as usual gave up the TDs.

The football world lost one of its greats when Todd Christensen died on Wednesday, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
The legendary Raiders tight end had reportedly been suffering from liver disease and died during surgery at a hospital in Utah. Christensen starred for BYU during the late 1970s as a running back before switching to tight end when he turned professional.
Christensen was drafted by the Cowboys, but went on to fame when was claimed off the waiver wire by the Raiders in 1979. He caught 461 passes and 41 touchdowns over his 11-year career. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and won two Super Bowls with the Silver and Black.
